Can anyone tell me of any retailers (high street or online) where I can buy/order the XBox hi-def (component cable) kit.

    Thanks.

    You can get it from

    http://www.tronixweb.com/

Or Game have the Gamester Hi-def pack. Remember though that PAL support for this is limited to 480i.

They have it here in Harrow, I could buy it and post it over? 25+ postage? Paypal or Nochex?

Yes, you need to have your XBox chipped to use the Video Select CD/DVD. If you need one drop me a PM with your address and I'll sort it for you.

I tried the gamester and the official cables through my projector (ae100).

Basically the Gamester produced ghosting on progressive scan. (i tried 2 different cables from HMV and Game)

The official cable (hi-def pack) produced no ghosting but there was a weird vertical streaking effect.

I then bought a cable like this one:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3004632254&category=20385

    also available at this website:
    http://www.videogamecompany.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Xbox____Hardware__109.html

and the picture was ruddy perfect!

The only downside is it has no optical out just a left and right audio.

I suppose i need to add a few disclaimers this was obviously just on my setup, enigmah beta chipped xbox (ntsc mode), panansonic ae100 projector.
And second I didn't buy from this ebay seller or from his website so I can't recommend them.

Yeah this is the exact cable I'm using now also, simply because of the lump of the Gamester one, although I had no issues with progressive scan on my Panasonic Plasma with the Gamster cable.

I ordered a three of a guy on Ebay in the US and he was pretty good. Can pass on details if you need.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

When using those cables I don't, where my xbox normally sits I don't have 5.1.

In the living room I use a Gamester HiDef pack when playing Xbox on the Plasma - no issues.

Are you using a PAL console or NTSC?

it is a pal consol with a x2 pro chip, but i have used the video mode disc to change it to ntsc to out put prog scan. I think i have read before that there is a problem with the games master cable and prog scan.

You can buy the offical pack from dvdboxoffice.com. They are based in Canada and so far i've not had to pay custom charges on any of their products.
