Does anyone know if an xbox can be 'coded' and what it means?

Some guy i know says he can get the xbox 'coded' instead of 'modded'.

I have never heard of this before. He seems to be saying that you do not need to install a chip.

    Thanks.

Erm, what do you want the xbox to be able to do, besides play games? if you want to use you xbox as say a media centre then you will need it 'chipped'(modded) if you just want high-def then a soft mod will do.

I just wondered if an xbox 'coded' would be the same as having one 'modded'...giving the full features of a mod chip.

    It seems not?

    Thanks for the reply.

I think you are describing the "softmod".
Do a search at http://www.xbox-scene.com/ and im sure there will be a tutorial on how this is done.
