XBox and 720p - non-standard?

    There's a thread in the HD TV forum currently where this guy is stating the following :

    This doesn't sound right to me - anyone have any other knowledge.

    There's talk of the 360 doing 1024x768 over VGA, but over component, you'll get the full 1280x720 HD signal.
    It's figured since most VGA users will be using a 4:3 monitor, that would make the most sense. On a Plasma, due to using rectangular pixels (to give the 16:9 shape) that this too would be fine.
    So, for all LCD/PJ users - component is your optimal choice, until the HDMI/HD-DVD mech version comes (probably) some time next year.

    But do you think the current XBox over component is outputting 1024x720 - a very non-standard resolution.

    Yes Freedom Fighter outputs in widescreen 720p (1280x720)- the likes of Soul Calibur 2 output in 4:3 720p (1024 x 720) :thumbsup: .
