    Hi everyone.

    I have a couple of questions regarding AutoInstaller Deluxe v.3 for the XBox. This afternoon we managed to get a friend's XBox running XBMC as the default dashboard after about 4 hours of getting the softmod wrong!

    This evening I am planning on modding my own XBox so that I can use XBMC as the default dashboard, BUT I also need to be able to access the different video options for 480p, 720p & 1080i.

    I have previously softmodded my XBox to work with these modes using the Splinter Cell save exploit. I am aware that there is an HD mode option in the AID setup screens - can I use this to set the modes or will my XBox just "remember" them after the new softmod?

    Also, I have been told that I will not be able to access my XBox Live settings after installing XBMC as the default dashboard. Is this true? If so, how will I be able to update any settings in the future if necessary? Will I have to uninstall the softmod or will dual booting solve that issue?

    Thanks!

    I'm pretty sure that AID V.3 has the enigma video switch as one of the applications to enable HD (if you have the HD AV Cable).

    As for xbox live. If you installed the correct softmod dual boot option you should be ok. Even if you have XBMC as your modded dash.

    I think that if you turn on your box via the eject button (with the drive empty) it should boot into the xbox network settings screen. If it does, you should be alright on live.

    --PS. I think that you must have an xbox live account enabled on the box before softmodding --

    Yep thanks donkeymagic, I have managed to get it all working as I wanted it to. XBox Live still works great & XBMC is fantastic!

    Anybody got any idea how I point the different options (My Video, My Music etc) directly to a certain folder on my network share instead of having to browse to it every time?

    Thanks!

    You have to edit the .xml file to your liking eg:

    <bookmark>
    <name>Videos</name>
    <path>F:\movies</path>
    </bookmark>

    just edit the code to point to you folders.make a backup 1st though.:)

    Anybody know how to rename the default options on the Windows Media Center 2005 skin?

    I've managed to change what "My Programs", "My Videos" etc point to, but I can't find out where to change the actual names...

    I got mine included in the install of XBMC - it was the default skin & I've stuck with it because its fantastic!

    You can probably find it somewhere on Google...

    Ok, I'll try some googling then. The skin that came with my XBMC install is Project Mayhem III, which although is very nice, it's a bit too "busy" to my liking.

    I would have thought the screen names are part of the skin rather than the xml, you can probably edit the background pictures if you need to..

    And it will not work with the latest builds of XBMC. I've tried it with the Pimped 25/03/06 version. It needs V2.0 or higher skins. And the only one I've found so far that works is Project Mayhem III.
