Looks like I'll wait a little while longer, no rush yet though there are only a couple of decent games on it at the moment :)

That will be really annoying if it's true and they do include a 100Gb hard drive with the premium for the same price.

Not if you already got a 20Gb drive for the same price it's not!

remember when the original XBox dropped in price and microsoft compensated early adopters with 2 free games and free joypad. I doubt they'll do anything similar but it doesn't hurt to dream;)

This is BS made up by some website which I can't remember.
They said on the original rumour that the update was to include a 100Gb HDD at 'THE BEGINNING OF APRIL' *as in April the 1st* Go figure!

What a load of crap, think about it, most people do not even use up 100GB of HD space on there PC, I mean what can you do with 100GB on the 360 ,20GB is more than enough for demo's music updates and gamesaves, anyway I was told they would be releasing a 40GB HD which seems more sensible..., 100Gb Laptop HD's are around £80 anyway so no way they can they bring this to market..., compared the 20GB prcing it will be aoround £300 then...

At the risk of sounding negative and probably being shouted down, I often wonder why people seem so obsessed by the size of the 360's hard drive. It was the same with the old XBOX - 'how can I add a bigger HD?' - 'The HD is pitifully small!' etc.
Is anyone having trouble with their 13 GB HD? If so, why? Do they get all their CDs and dump them all on it? Do they sit there all day scouring the 'net for HD videos?
Blow me, the HD on our previous PC was only 13 GB and it never got more than half full even after six years' service!

Too right mate, speak for yourself

Fair enough the first xbox only had 10gb this was ample, in normal circumstances this would be fine. I personally had mine chipped and it has a 120gb hard drive which i regularly have to clear out when i run out of space. I wouldn't say i go mad, but i put my films on there a couple of series of 24, a couple of games, a couple of gigs of music and i'm already running short.

My new xbox hd is already full, i've downloaded a few demos put a bit of music on, put final fantasy on and guess what i've run out after 3 months of use. Fair enough for many people 13gb is enough but not for all of us

From what i've heard M$ plan to release lots of downloadable hd content, games etc which will need the hard drive so 13gb is definately a bit on the small side. I can't say i mind though i thought the premium pack was very good value and worth every penny i paid so i'm not complaining

mines got 9gb free and as soon as i bother deleting all my music off it as using my pc to do that and then putting it in stanby afterwards is far better in my opinion i'll have even more free.

But as you said if M$ do release all this HD stuff 13GB will be used quickly, they should make a way to allow storage of files from 360 to pc. I have like 150gb free on my hd there and would much rather use that than buy a bigger xbox hd which i have limited use over what i can store on it. My mp3 player gives me more leanway, it will let me store whatever i want on it

Well I would imagine the Larger 100gb is to be used with DirectTV with there new service, downloadable content from directTV would soon eat up 15gb, I was expecting them to do the upgrade as a kit for use with this service, I.E, 12 month content sub and a bigger HDD for the 360, I guess this could be what the news is all about.

I think they signed a similar deal with SKY

100gb isn't alot if M$ start offerieng HD content via LIVE.

it will happen. its just a question of when.

its M$'s only way to combat the HD threat of blueray.

An upgrade of the 'standard' HDD from 20 to 100 Gigs sounds _extremely_ unlikely.

That said, MS are sure to bring out some useful revisions to the console to improve stability. I'd expect a process shrink on the gfx chipset, meaning less heat generated and lower power supply requirements. Also, yield on the CPUs should improve leading to lower power consumption and heat there too.

Larger HDDs will no doubt become available and IMO the chances are good that eventually HD-DVD and a HDMI connection will be built into the console (longer term).

It's certainly worth waiting a month or two to see what happens, it's not like there are a load of amazing must-haves right now, especially if you've already got a PC or Xbox to keep you busy.

Its been confirmed as false by m$

To answer this rumor getting a lot of steam: during April, will Xbox 360 will come bundled with a 100 gig hard drive? No. Not true. False. Here's the official statement:
"We haven't announced any additional hard drives for the Xbox 360 beyond the 20GB version available today."

i really dont see what microsoft would gain by releasing a hard drive 5 times larger, and then selling it at the same price!!, If it is £70 for a 20GB, how much will it be to buy a 100GB? are we talking 5 times the price since its five times the size?

I disagree. Microsoft will source the parts that are most economical over the life of the console. 20GB is pretty small for a drive these days, and you are unlikely to find many manufacturers still producing drives of that size. At some point in the next few years it's likely to be cheaper and easier for them to source bigger drives than trying to buy the same (by then obsolete) size. Try buying a 15" VGA CRT monitor, a 160MB HDD or 16MB of RAM now. There is very probably no need for the additional capacity but economics may make it sensible for them to provide it.

Also, when a company states that it has not announced something, it means it hasn't announced it. It doesn't mean that it denies what has been claimed.

The media remote indicates that MS have intentions to use the 360 to offer Sky+/Tivo type functionality.

If so then the current HDD is not enough even for SD TV IMO, nevermind HDTV.

Sky+ standard has 40gb space and I found that limiting at times before upgrading. 13gB to share with games etc.

I could see an PVR upgrade pack available in the future - remote, 100gB HDD etc. in a bundle - as a possibility.

This rumour seems very dubious, but longer term it could have some truth.

In 12 months down the line (or less) say the 360 pricing policy gets revised. Core down to under £200, current premium pack reduced so say £230, and a new PVR premium pack at the current ones price point. Might make sense?

    Would be
