NO NO NO NO NO! Say NO! to digital downloads. It's what they want, and in the end, the consummer is going to be the loser.

Apologies if it wasn't, but I thought my post was self explanatory. I wasn't referring to these particular offers, but the entire prospect of a 'Digital Download Only' future. It will kill competition, and quite possibly drive people away from gaming, because of the extortionate prices that Microsoft and Sony set for most of their digital downloads. I have very limited funds to spend on games, and I haven't paid more than £20 for a game for a few years now, with most of my purchases being £15 or less. If I have no option but to pay £40 to £60 for digital downloads, then my time as a console gamer will be over.

If anyone believes that a digital download future will be good for consummers, they are kidding themselves. The big boys will have us by the short n curlies.

"Genuine Bargains". Hmmmm, lead deal today is Fifa 14 with 50% discount, for the Genuine Bargain price of... £24.99

(To be fair, there were a few really good deals, but nothing special today.)

Really was tempted in Dishonoured and Portal 2 but already have some many Digital Games that I have to play. Still fighting the urge to purchase them.

And nothing wrong with Digital Downloads, Discs arent going anywhere anytime soon.
Most of my games are Digital Only now, dont own a disc to play on my Xbox One and the only game I have in disc form on my 360 is Halo 4 everything else is Digital Downloads. Very conveniant for me and so easy to load up and swtch between games.

I've bought and downloaded several games from XBL to this point, always believing the promise I read in the small-print that I would be able to download the manual from the website address given. Not once have I succeeded. Yet still I buy and still I try.... My entire game-collection is in the boxes they came in, which makes it easy to see whether you have a game, and then find it to play it.
I understand Xbox aren't about to allow us to burn to disc something we've purchased from them (!) But how much trouble would it be to allow us the manuals as promised, and the box-Art? That way at least we'd remember we own the game, even if the case is empty!
Has anyone else had this problem with downloading the manuals for these online-purchased Games?

No more pleasure in ownership of a 'Special Edition Box', No more Saturdays afternoons checking-out the 'Used' shelves and Bargain-Bins of our local game-store And how long will those stores themselves last), No more lending a game to a friend overnight so he can see how awesome it is, too and go buy it, No more swaps or sales... Games you choose to install on your hard-drive run better, no doubt. But if your drive corruots it, you ar least have the back-up right to hand.

But when you're limited to how much HDD space you have, and even how much external memory you can have, DD aren't all that convenient.
At least having discs still allows you to own more than will fit on the still rather tiny 250GB or even 320GB HDDs available for the Xbox360.
Not to mention the fact that the Xbox won't take any old laptop HDD, meaning you can't upgrade to what ever size you want.

I install all my games to the HDD to save on ware and tear on both the disc drive and the discs.
I have 26 games installed(some of which are 2 disc games, and 2 of which are only borrowed games), with 1 downloaded to my HDD.
      That's just Xbox360 games.
Plus there's DLC for a few of them.
I also have 3 XBLA games on my HDD.
I only have 2GB left on my HDD.
      I've also bought a 32GB USB stick, which I have 1 installed Xbox360 game 2 downloaded Xbox360 games, 1 XBLA game a some DLC.
      That only has 7.7GB left.

I still have 15 not installed.
If they were all DD, I wouldn't have room.

And Xbox One doesn't even allow you to change the HDD, and it's games are even bigger.
      Even less convenient.

I can delete any if needed and download again at a later date.
Its not for everyone but for me I have embraced the Digital Side, same as I did with music/movies & tv shows.

I'm generally against digital downloads (for games) I tend to buy second hand and trade on, however, recently I've purchased loads of games on both PS3 and 360, the rock bottom prices just couldn't be ignored.

      But therein lies another issue.
A 6-7GB download could take what, an hour or more?
Whereas installing the same size game from disc takes around 5-10 minutes.

Besides, I still like having the artwork from the case and the, now endangered, booklets.
I'm sure I've posted about that before.
Artwork and backstory contained within games manuals are a dying art form.
Developers don't use the manuals properly and are therefore killing them off in favour of digital manuals.
I was hugely disappointed that Rockstar went this route with GTA V.
They also produce great manuals, but instead opted to put it all in a smartphone app.

Another great instance of manuals/cases being used in a smart way goes way back to 1998 and Metal Gear Solid, where the codec frequency for Meryl was printed on the back of the game case as a screen shot.
It's a great case of total interactivity, making the physical part of the game as important as what is actually on the disc.

More games should use this kind of thinking.
Hiding clues/solutions to puzzles within the games packaging.
That's something which would be completely lost in an all digital gaming age.

Would only take 10>15 minutes on my connection to be honest.
Like I said its not for everyone and can see why people stick with Disc but for me I like Digital and will stick with it.

Its funny you never get people who have gone digital lecturing the people who still have discs but people who stick with discs always lecture or educate the digital owners on what they are doing wrong and the negatives. It works for me but as I said its not for everyone.

Tell me, are you fairly knowledgeable regarding Xbox 360 HD's?
If so, I could use a little advice regarding swapping or maybe linking drives?
If that is, you have the time.

I could really do with a 2TB HDD on my xbox, forever having to delete and re-download my old stuff, to the extent I don't even know what I've bought and still to play for DD stuff... Eep!! Need to stop buying sale stuff lol

I'm not very knowledgeable at all, to be honest.
Besides, I thought using regular HDD's in place of the normal, internal HDD's wasn't possible without using methods Microsoft deem against the terms of use.

Not exactly lecturing, just pointing out the reasons why I'm not a fan of digital only media.
Part to do with not having enough HDD space, and pat because of the loss of artwork and other items related to physical media.

Sorry mate was not exactly aimed at you.
Just noticed quite a few posts recently when you mention you have gone digital and some people go off on one.
Completely understand your points, HDD space, prices and loss of artwork.
Imo they should do more to drive DD and they should include manuals and artwork.

Each to their own, apologies if it came across as a rant back at you. :)
