    Hi all,

I keep telling myself I won't buy another console at launch as it ends up a very expensive business. Then a few months later I see the consoles selling much cheaper with a better range of games.

However, the 360 just looks so tempting I think I'll end up getting one  .

The PSP also looks like a sexy new piece of kit which I might have gone for, but with the launch of the 360, I'll definately have to keep my available pocket money for it and some games (Project Gotham, Kameo etc...drool). I'm just wondering if the 360 launch might dent the PSPs early market pentration if early adopters keep back their cash for the 360. After all, the money for a PSP + games would buy a new generation of console in the 360.

The reverse effect may also be true though. Maybe because someone is buying a PSP they won't have the cash left over for 360, so I've included that option as well.

Obviously this doesn't apply to importers who bought a PSP early (now looking like a very smart move by you guys :smashin: )

Anyway, to test the water, I've made a poll.

I'm interested in anyone elses opinions on this.

PS I'm getting married tomorrow, so please forgive me if I don't respond to any replies over the next few days. I'm not going on honeymoon, but may be 'out of the loop' for the next few days as I don't know what the future missus has got up her sleeve......

    Bye for now,

    RDB :)

Well I've had my PSP for a few weeks now, and I've already got my money for the 360 stashed away, so it looks like I'm going to end up with both! The Xbox was my console of choice of the last generation, so I'm hoping its successor can keep the ball rolling, especially like the look of what they're doing with Live. 64 player games and spectator modes  bring it on!

If I but anything it'll more likely be the X360. The PSP doesn't rock my boat at all right now, besides I'd probably get a DS before a PSP anyway!

:offtopic: Good luck on the wedding tomorrow RDB! Btw, where are you going on honeymoon? Hope you're not going to be affected by the BA strike. :nono:

I thought i wanted a PSP but if i've got a 360 why would i be playing a PSP? so my vote went to 'I would have bought a PSP but am saving all my cash for Xbox 360 instead.'

Bought my PSP back in March and it's a great little console. I guess the PSP is old news for me now though and i'm really looking forward to getting my 360!

If it was a choice of the 2 then my money would go towards the 360 - no question  .

I dont have a PSP and dont want pne, was going to wait and see what the PS3 was going to be like but with rumours that it will be late 06 or even 07 and the fact that bluray seems a nightmare to play anything on it (if you read the HD forum) it might have to be the 360.

Hopefully the next generation of console will last longer than this gen, for too short

I'd agree to a certain extent, i still think that there is more performance that can be had from the current xbox.

    I'm getting a PSP with 3 games....

As for the next gen, its all conjecture, rumours and guesses. Nothing definate is known.

    Now the price:

    £210 for X360 without HD
£280 for X360 with HD and stuff
and pre-orders for X360 games are £45! Good price for console though

Microsoft seem confused. Will it be backwards compatible? Sort of. It will have a HD. It won't have a HD. It might use HD-DVD. It might not. The dedicated gamer will just get the HD version. The ordinary person would just get the cheaper ver.

Also, this means some will have 20gb doing nothing, or games won't work without the HD. Square Enix have said FF 360 won't work without the HD, so is that gonna be universal for all developers?

In its rush to beat Sony, Microsoft seem indecisive and I don't think they should have bothered with the HD-less ver. It'll help consumers and developers.

    Hi all

Sorry I haven't responded to this topic I started  . I've been working off-base in a clients office and seemingly they are very touchy about internet access (posting on gaming forums etc). I could read but not post.

Wedding went fine. Had to wear a kilt though as it's become almost compulsory up here in the frozen north over the last few years.

Congrats to everyone who got a PSP. My mate's got one an it's great. I can't really afford to spend too much on consoles these days, hence the original post. I was about 50/50 decided on getting and XBox (especially for Perfect Dark Zero) but this Nintendo Revolution announcement has made me re-consider everything. I'll see nearer the time the XBox is released and knowing me, I'll buy one on impulse in the shops when I see a good package.

    RDB :)

Well I have a psp and dont regret it simply because it is portable. I am passing on the 360 and waiting fopr PS3. I know it is some way off yet but apparently, if Xbox 360 sells well over the xmas period then Sony will bring froward the release date of PS3 by up to 6 months for all continents.

    But Xbox has Xbox live.
This makes, even, mediocre games bloody brilliant.
What has PS3 going to have?

I voted neither, all my money is stashed away saving for the Nintendo Revolution. After the last Xbox the new one doesn't interest me at all. And as for the PSP I would rather have a DS, but then I don't mobile game much at the mo, so I'll stick to my GBA SP for the time being.

The new Revolution footage got me interested too, even the missus looked impressed. It's only the PS3 that hasn't done anything for me now...There's just nothing for it to offer that the 360 can't do better (ie. with Live implementation).

If you haven't seen it you really should watch the controller demo video, it looks like a great idea, I'd have thought you'd especially like it as you seem to like FPS games.

I have a PSP already, and have an xbox 360 ordered as well.

Almost completed Ridge Racer and my nephew overwrote my save game.. it's been in the draw since. Waiting for GTurismo on it before I dust it off again.
