I asked this in the DVD players forum but no replies, do you reckon that the 360 will play DVD's as good as, or better than a Harmon Kardon DVD 25.

I personally think it will due to its speed and gfx capabilities.
I need to make room on my AV shelf but I need a decent DVD player for my plasma.

Personally, I would expect the 360 to be every bit as good as a DVD 25 (I have one too). The 360 does progressive out of the box, and should be a good player in theory. Not 'til it's released can we judge for ourselves however...

Like Lorenzini says, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. I recall Sony crowing about the PS2's 'high quality' DVD capabilities, but it turned out to be a bit grim. XBOX was passable, but never came near matching my old Sony DVP-S325.
As the 360 is designed as a 'media centre', maybe it will do a good job.

I also have a sony 525, it is still a good player, but only has a SCART output.
I will wait and and see how the 360 lives up.
