If I buy one from the USA when I go there on hols, what issues am I going to face?

Will I need to get it chipped to play UK games? If so, how hard is this and how much does it cost?

What about the voltage difference? Or are they multi-voltage and just need a different plug?

Will you save ALOT of money buying a US machine? If so is the trade off worth the hassle involed in not being able to play PAL games and your voltage question, Some really good deals to be had in the UK with premiums and games bundles, Id buy a Uk one personaly :)

Don't forget they add tax on top of that. They are only £180 in the UK now you know...

Chipping/firmware mods won't make the thing region free, so you'll have to buy US or region free games.

As far as I know you can use a UK power brick with a US console.

    I'd agree with that.

Not worth the hastle really. Sort yourself out a nice bundle with the games you want & just get one over here.

There are no mod chips to change the region on the console and to be honest having to constantly buy NTSC games to play on it would end of probably costing you more in the long run and be a hassle.

If I were you Id get a good UK bundle and don't forget with that you get a warranty as well which with the relaibility of the xbox is no bad thing.

    Just my two pence!

I was in Vegas in June and considered buying an Xbox HD DVD drive and although it worked out cheaper I didnt bother cause of the hassle with the voltage etc.. If the Xbox brick states 110-240v it should work ok in the UK with a change of plug lead but if you save £20 or so is it worth it?

The HD-DVD drive is multi voltage and just requires a standard UK figure of eight power cable to be connected to the external power supply. The only issue would be the lack of warranty.

The 360 itself however is voltage specific depending on the region it comes from and will require either a step down transformer or a UK 360 power supply.

It's better for other forum members not to get involved and comment in this way as it can only lead to further argument, bickering and insults. If there is a problem the best thing to do is report it and let the mods take care of it if need be. Thanks.

Please do not ask for advice etc. on how to chip/mod XBox 360s - it is against forum rules. Thanks.

The initial question was "does he need to chip his Xbox" - not "how do I chip my Xbox". Also, if it's against forum rules to talk about chipping Xbox's, why does the same rule not apply to hacking DVD's, which has a forum all of it's own!

I think they're referring to the now deleted posts by someone else that were quoted not the original question.

A US Xbox over here is about as much use as a chocloate teapot.
