Got an Elite yesterday. Dont know if this is a problem but when the machine is off and the power supply is connected and on at the mains the supply(brick) makes a noise which is not loud but noticeable. If i turn off at the mains or disconnect from the actual 360 the noise stops.

Is this normal?, the noise sounds like a high pitched buzz. Any help appreciated

Can anyone answer my question as I dont know if this is a fault and I need to go back and exchange it?

The noise is there all the time when left switched on at the mains. The noise deffo comes from the power brick supply and when I disconect it from the xbox the noise stops even if still switched on at the mains. Really bizzare, any help welcome...

No, it shouldn't really be doing that. I don't think it's dangerous, but obviously is annoying. Just take the power brick back and get it replaced for a new one.

    Hi all

I am truly sorry for flooding this, but yesterday I bought an Elite, and I am having the same problem that you... did you get a replacement?

    Thanks.

I traded my premium in for an elite on Friday and the power pack is making the noise that both you posters have mentioned... It is driving me mad.

Will have to phone the shop I got it from and see what they can do for me.

Bought an elite today and no noise from my power brick, well there is if you put your ear right next to it but apart from that nothing from a distance.

I bought my Elite from Blockbuster in January and the power suppy makes the same noise as the poster describes. It drives me mad. Did you manage to get just the brick exchanged?

I called MS and they sent me a 203w PSU as the original 175w PSU was noisy and squeaked.

I then had the 360 exchanged last week due to a rrod and tried the replacement 175w PSU and it is also noisy but no squeaks this time.

I just called Microsoft about my power supply, and they are going to send me another one.
