    Hello.
I'm having problems with DNS using an Xbox 360. I just want to download system updates rather than game online but I still need a connection to Xbox Live.

The console is connected to an ethernet adsl modem (Dlink DSL 300T, works fine) directly with no router in the system. The Xbox receives an IP address correctly and automatically shows the correct DNS server address. However when the connection check reaches the DNS section, it fails with no DNS server could be reached.

I've tried inputting both DNS server addresses manually, also using the PCs MAC address but to no avail. I dont understand how the DNS servers can be identified by the console but cannot be reached on the connection check.

    ISP is Virgin.net.

Has anyone got any suggestions? I can't think of anything more to do.

    Thanks.
    Mark.
