I have the older premium version which I connect to my tv through component. I was just wondering If the picture quality would improve more if I got myself the Elite or latest premium version and used hdmi. I have a panasonic TH37PX60B. I would use vga but the picture flickers.
Would it make any difference on this set?
    Any ideas please.

tbh there's no point in upgrading just for the one feature.

Component can output HD just as good as HDMI so you may as well save your cash - maybe spend what you saved on a 120Gb HDD if you're after soemthing new :)

I really like vga but the picture seems to flicker or a slight nudge when playing certain games. I have tried all the settings but I dont know what causes it.
    Any ideas?

    Look at it this way.

Brand new 120GB hard drive aprox £100

    or

Sell your premium on ebay for say £180ish

It would then cost you £120ish for the Elite (on top of the £180ish you made on ebay)

    That's £120 for a 120GB Hard Drive + Newer xbox + Black + 12months warranty + HDMI :smashin:

The only thing I can think of (and I may be corrected) is that the Elite will upscale to your native TV resolution over HDMI whereas it won't via Component. My 50" HDTV picture is superb if it is fed an HD picture i.e. 720 or 1080 but if let to do the scaling itself, it's a poor picture.

I have not tested HDMI yet with the Elite but I am willing to guess it makes a better job of upscaling than my TV meaning I am more likely to use it as a media extender for video rather than just music.
