Hey guys. First time posting so im sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Ive been wanting to record machinima for a while and i have a ton of scripts already but i cant seem to find anyway of recording it without forking out money so ive decided im going to order a dazzle cap card in the next few weeks, But before that im gonna try other methods. The reason im posting is because ive plugged my xbox 360 into my PC directly via the VGA cable and a DVI converter but the pc wont recognise it as a video source, is there any way to make it work

    TL;DR

I wanna recor xbox via vga cable plugged directly into the pc how will i make it work?

You need a capturing card. If you have money to spend get the Hauppauge HD-PVR, but you'll need the componant cable for your 360. I don't think you can actually hook up any video device directly to a PC, without some sort of capturing device, unless you're talking about the connecting it directly to the screen/monitor.
