xbox 360 as a media center help please

    hi seriously thinking of getting a 360 now just want to know if i can use it as a media center like i currently do with my xbox. i just want to be able to play tv episodes from my pc running xp. or will i need xbox media center extender and/or windows media center

    You have to have windows MCE installed on the PC you wish to stream video from and even then it's very limited to the video formats that it'll stream. WMV being the main one and a couple of others, but there is no support for xvid/divx unless you install a prog called transcode360 which does the job but doesn't allow you any control over the video once it's started. At the moment the media center on the old xbox is far better than that of the 360 IMO

    thanks for the reply gonna leave buying one for a few months then until i find a bit more out about it
