Xbox 360 answers please!

Right i'm a little confused as to what the Xbox 360 will and will not do. For instance obviously it'll play games, but will it or will it not be HD?
If it doesn't come with the HD drive initially.. when will it be updated and if so will they start doing games that the launch 360 won't be able to play??

Does anyone have the answers?
