Sounds like you have an older pro-logic system which was around before dolby digital came on the scene.

To make use of the 360's true 5.1DD you will need a new sound system consisting of a digital amplifier and speakers to suit, though you may get away with using the speakers from your existing system until funds are available for a dedicated speaker system but you may have trouble with the sub woofer which usually needs to be active (internal amplification) .

You can get a decent S/H Yamaha for around £100 and you need to be looking for Doby digital and DTS compatibility which are the basic digital sound formats and coaxial and digital optical toshlink connections, the 360 uses the latter.

For further info you could look in the amplifier section of the forums,

The best you will get with external equipment connected to your your system is prologic via the scart etc.. which is the best multichannel audio for analogue sound.

To get digital audio with external sources like the 360 you need digital capable equipment with digital connections.

    No probs m8!

Your system has an amp built into the dvd player and the digital audio from DVD's etc.. are sent direct to the internal digital decoder.

Manufacturers leave out external digital connections and have everything built in to cut costs, only later do we find this out.

Good luck in your search, post back if you need any more help.:)
