I'm having a bit of difficulty playing back dvd with XBMC in high def. I switched my modded PAL xbox to NTSC, connected it to my samsung LE32R41B LCD TV through component and selected all the 480, 720 and 1280 options. XBMC displays in 1920x1080i @ 60hz, looks great and works a treat until ... when I select 'Play DVD' from the video menu with a disc in the drive, XBMC either freezes or does nothing. The drive dispays the name of the film but I can't play any of the VOB files either. Am I doing something wrong? This happens with R1 and R2 DVDs.

    Thanks,
    andy

Just to let you know that I've fixed it ... by using the patched version of dvdx v2. Works a treat, don't need to shell out on a progressive scan DVD player now!

If you set this as the DVD player in XBMC do you lose the use of the remote control - and have to use the controller instead?

Yes. The upside is that compared to the XBMC DVD player it does handle menus.
