X3 on steam

Any played this game oringally or since?
I l;ogged onto steam today for the first time in ages an saw it on there for just 19.99, did a bot of digging and it seems it was basically unfinished when it was first released, but successive patches have made it what it should have been. For 11 quid, is it worth it?

is there a monthly fee for it though as its an mmo? i heard it was shockingly ad too actually at first release

Don't think theres a monthly... I didn't think it was a MMO...? I thought it was all self contained, with story line an stuff...?

I tried to playthe earlier versions and found it dull as dishwater ...and that's from someone who loved Elite and Frontier.
