I have an X1 projector and currently am feeding it with composite only (Agh!). I want to run a 25' VGA cable from my PC for viewing video from the PC. I have a Pace HDTV box coming from the cable company so i can set the unit up to view from the component signal from my stereo.

    A couple questions?
    1. Can anyone give me a good source and recommend sizing a VGA cable for the 25' run that will not have quality degradation. I understand that i should be able to view at 1080i which should really be crisp.
    2. Is the component video out signal on the HDTV cable boxes a progressive signal? The X1 only takes in component if it is progressive.
    3. Also, can anyone recommend a digital audio cable for a 30' run. I have digital audio on my PC which i would need to run into my stereo.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

    Hi Mel,

I bought a 25ft vga to vga cable from here:

    http://www.itm-components.com/

They do cables that guarentee no degredation up to 200ft IIRC.

And Lindy's do good cables too:

I can't help you with the HDTV stuff - are you in the USA? If so, Lindy have a US outlet, so try that one instead.

    Gary.

    Hi Mel,

The X1 can take component input (interlaced) through the modified svideo socket, but not at 1080i, for that you will need an output to the VGA port. A good quality cable would be those manufactured from Belden stock, if you are in the US(?) try the links below. For digital and video feeds 25/30 foot is not overly long, so should pose no problem as long as the cables are reasonable and well screened.

Paul, Can i run component out from my stereo system into the VGA port of the X1 and get the 1080i. If this would work, then i could go from VGA to component on my pc and feed the stereo as well as feed component in from HDTV and the DVD player into the sterep. then a single component to VGA cable into the X1, which i already have the cable for. If this would work, that would be great. Thanks for the help.

    Mel
