Thanks for that I had it pre-ordered with Play.com, but have swapped it across to Amazon.

Will X3 be a new transfer? as I will be picking up the first two but dont know whether its worth upgrading if its the same master with some tacked on extra features.

Not sure if it will be a new transfer, although it will be on a BD-50 instead of the 25 its on now. Probably to squeeze some extras on though.

Havent seen X3 on Blu yet, but I hear its a decent transfer. I hope they really pull out all the stops for X2.

IN all honesty I cannot remember because I passed on my original discs some time ago, and at that stage in my viewing I would watch some extras but not others.

What I can say though is that the X-Men trilogy has an extensive and comprehensive extras package.

You should be able to read the review in the next couple of days.

If you swap it again to the hut you can get it for £28.93 using the code EASTER3.

    Just ordered mine.

Is the X-Men disc the original or the later cut for that came out on DVD X-Men 1.5?

I thought both of those cuts were the same, the later 5.1 release just had a truckload more extras than the original release.

They are the same cuts, the 1.5 bit was the inclusion of a DTS track. And mighty fine it was.:D

There's never been an extended version of either 1 or 2.

Some scenes could be viewed with seamless branching, meh.

If memory serves, it wasn't very seamless either!

Exactly. The deleted scenes weren't even re-mastered or made anamorphic for their inclusion. It's also a shame that the rumoured re-scoring by John Ottman never took place. As much as I like Michael Kamen for his work on Highlander, etc, his X-Men score is crap. Still, best not to speak ill of the dead.

    Hi Keith

Is the box set definitely Region Free as you state in your review as FOX titles are usually region locked. I have a US PS3 and the box set is cheaper here.

    Thanks
    Nick

Many non-U.S releases by FOX/MGM have been Region Free. I hope that the U.K release of the trilogy is also Region Free.

Fox UK sent us the discs to review but the discs nothing else. All I can say if that they had Region A/B/C on the discs and played when I configured my player to region A and region B.

I though his sound track for the film was good, and a lot better than the next 2 film scores for the series.

Given Fox's recent packaging for movie sets, I wonder if X-Men Trilogy will box the 3 movies separately in their individual cases, inside a larger box; or will they put all the discs in one big case?

Personally I'd prefer the 3 separate cases - gonna hold off until someone can confirm this. Otherwise I'll just wait for the three separate movies to hit 3-for-2 somewhere (which they're almost bound to in the long run).
