I have heard Vinnie Jones is to play Cain Marko which to you is Juggernaut.
Oh no and I was so looking forwards to this film, well at least if the do it right he will spend most of his time behind a mask.

... and a big suit, unless Juggernaut is like the one out of the recent cartoon. Tall and skinnyish, well compaired to the big muscle bound thing that he was.

he will be wearing a specially made suit to enhance muscle tone, not a bad choice really if he has been taking acting classes (his performance in Swordfish was abysmal). If all the rumors are true X3 will be a bit different. Gambit should be in it, as should Beast who was on TV in one of the previous movies in his human form. The biggest change will be made to Archangel who will become female and will be called Angel.

Archangel started off as Angel but became Archangel following some dealings with Apocalypse. As I mentioned in another thread not too long ago, Gambit and the Beast are both likely to be in it (although I think Gambit will only be getting a background part). Also strong rumours of at least one Sentinel but that's been true of the previous offerings too, personally I would rather they retained the "human" aspect and didn't include giant robots.

With Matthew Vaughan directing one has to wonder how Vinnie Jones became involved, although having Cane certainly introduces some interesting story possibilities considering his relationship with Xavier and him being unstoppable! Again though, the mystic element doesn't really fit in with the previous movies. :)

There seem a lot to be going on in 3 since Jean Grey and Magneto will also be in it.

eviljohn2 is right about Archangel Angel was one of the very original team which was Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Professor X.

I’ve not been looking forward to this as much since I learnt Bryan Singer will not be resuming director duties. Imo he did a superb job on the first two films.

However, the thought of the film including Beast, Gambit and Sentinels is salivating to say the least! ;)

I'm pretty sure the whole female Angel thing was brushed off as a load of bull, a rumor started by AICN if i'm not mistaken.

I read somewhere that if Archangel/Angel appears in X-Men 3 (who along with Beast & Gambit has yet to be officially confirmed) that the character will indeed retain his meat & veg.

Matthew Vaughan is now officially off the picture - rumoured on AICN and confirmed by Avi Arad himself!

Apparently it has nothing to do with 'creative differences' but was a personal decision by Vaughan and he is devastated about it. He fought some battles with Fox to get some of his ideas accepted - including the casting of Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/The Beast - and the script that he's been working on with the other writers has got the actors pretty excited about what they get to do in the film.

    From AICN...

"Marvel and Fox are expected to make an announcement in the next few days regarding both the casting of Angel (who plays “a major role” in the film, according to Avi) and the new director, who may actually be someone who had circled the film earlier but who wasn’t available at that point."

"Avi says that they’re still committed to starting work on the film in nine weeks in Vancouver, and they’re still planning to have the film in release on Memorial Day 2006. “We think this is better than either part 1 or 2,” Avi said. “This is the most controversial, classic X-MEN story we may ever tell, and I can’t wait until people hear the big idea that holds this all together.” "

Any ideas what the story may be? Or the director for that matter?

Joss Whedon springs to mind - AICN mention him too - but I'm not sure he would take on such a major film with so little personal prep time and no initial input in the script.

Kelsey Grammer will be excellent as the Beast. Not sure what they mean by a contraversial storyline, I'm reading Essential X-Men vol.2 at the moment and there's really not too much controversial in it. They could go really off the wall and use the Phalanx!

    Can'twaitcan'twaitcan'twaitcan'twaitcan'twait!

Calm thoughts, Sin City this week. Batman Begins in a couple of weeks.

I've read that Matthew Vaughan has stepped down as the director, as the shoot is expected to take over a year to complete and he doesn't want to leave his family behind or uproot them.

See post #12 on page 1.

I've read that Vaughan has stepped down due to a death in the family.

The rumours that 2 regular cast members will be killed off along with one of the ones form this movie says Legacy Virus to me. They (Avi and Loren) have gone on about the contrversial nature of this movie and I bet 10 quid that the two characters who will die are....Xavier and Magneto. And Beast will only be in it for this movie. I bet they bring his mutation in very early after flashes of the mutant AIDS virus, mass hysteria in the flatscan population and McCoy tries to cure himself. Xavier has known him for years due to a certain disease etc....

All of this is just conjecture at the moment at the moment...but i feel it in my water. And what better way of leading into Magneto the movie than to show how he ends up?

As long as they get Bobby to properly Ice Up then I don't care. That would fulfill all my childhood fantasies from Spidey and his Amazing Friends...

But most of all, I pray that they get a decent director. and not Ratner. Freaking hack! Even though my girlfriend reckons Rush Hour is well directed...I think she's on crack!

Interesting thoughts SKINFreak, the problem I see at the moment is that the story being "controversial" could mean anything or everything.

We mustn't forget that the previous 2 films havn't really been based on any of the stories (although heavily around the characters histories) so I don't see any way of guessing what could happen. All I know is that I absolutely can't wait for this movie to be released. :)

I just get the impression from the way Singer originally envisioned the 3 movies for being a reflection of major themes in our culture at present, and with the general rascism/homophobia slant, the only other extension of this is the "gay disease" as it was seen in the 80's. It's the natural progression for the theme, and I think they want ot give the first 3 films some closure. With Wolverine and Magneto movies in the works, I think that there'll be some diversification of the X-men.

I'd love to see a Gen X style team being led off by Cyclops featuring the younger members that could have a couple of movies out of it. With the huge array of characters at thier disposal, we just have to believe that they don't spit them out for the sake of it. I don't know why they cannot give some better director's a chance with the material. My reservation about the timescale that they've put X3 on means they'll take nearly any A list director. THAT is a very very bad idea...
