Probably my favourite of all the X-Men films, I wouldn't rush out to buy this immediately, but when the price is right it can replace my blu-ray.

I had the DVDs but I don't think I even bought the Blu. Reading this review, I think I might enjoy Xmen 2 so I will pick it up on sale. Unlike the rest of the world I quite enjoyed Xmen 3 for what it was so if the PQ is decent, again it would be another sale pick up.

I had a flick it though the other day and it's the runt of the litter of these UHDs. Not bad, but the 4K film scans for 1 and 2 did seem better than the 2K DI of Xmen 3. At the moment these are only available in the boxset so it's a matter of all for one and one for all...

With the current pricing I can't see individual separate releases beating them unless you don't want all three. Packaging wise you can't sell on unwanted one(s) as they are in a fold out thing rather than individual cases (well you can by sticking them in another case but you get what I mean).

Thanks. So maybe just Xmen 2 then. :)
I just remembered that I did buy the Adamantium Blu box set when it was on sale but I don't thin that I ever watched X-men 1 or 2.

I've made a decision with 4K upgrades of blus i already have, if it's not upgrading the sound to Atmos/DTS:X as well, no sale!

Why not upscale the sound yourself in the AVR. Often the UHDs have a higher bit rate for the old soundtracks than they got on the blu-ray.

I have found that Neural:X does a great job of up-mixing but not all films benefit. It might be dependent on the quality of the original mix. The Dark Knight for example definitely benefits from up-mixing and so does Monsters vs Aliens. Both are said to be demo worthy mixes.

Simon notes of the X-Men one "In short it is a terrific track"
I watched initially without upscaling the soundtrack and switching over half way through to upscale it gave definite improvements overall to my cloth ears. Unlike some of the recent Disney efforts it had dynamics there to work with.

The upscalers do a good job but it's not the same as a professional job done in a proper studio. If i'm paying premium prices i expect a premium product. Although, to be fair, the X Men boxset is reasonably priced for three 4K films.
