Just bought this in my local WH Smith for £12.99
2 Disc special edition with DTS soundtrack
Could it be an anomaly?
I went in my local WH Smiths last week and it was £15.99 this week it was £16.99.
my local is leatherhead and they had about half a dozen copies all marked at £12.99
Your right, youre not wrong. specinv
I went into a different branch of WH Smiths this morning and they were priced up at £12.99.
went to have a look at the sneek preview of x2 this morning and the dozy mare in smith's had only gone and given me the wrong disc. So another trip later and order was restored and i must say x2 looks like the dogs bits. Visited Kingston smith's and they were sellinf x1.5 for £16.99 so there pricing seems a bit eratic.
Does anyone know how long it will stay at that price?
they have a price crash on dvd's at my local whsmith with titles at 7.99 9.99 12.99 though no copies of X-men 1.5 were present!!
Chart dvd's were all at normal pricing
went to my Local W H Smith and it was marked at £16.99
I asked them to check the price on the till and when they scanned the bar code it was £12.99.
So the answer is that most shops have not bothered changing their prices.
So ask and you will get it for that price
Makes you wonder if they meant it to be the original release? But then would it scan though at £12.99?
Went out specifically to get X-men 1.5 on Saturday, shopped around and generally the price for the 1.5 version was 16.99. I even saw the original version for 19.99! (In Blockbusters)
So don't know if this is a general mis-price by Smith's or not. But...hey...who cares!!
If you can wait, ezydvd are doing this for around £11 delivered (shipping out May14th).
also included in WHSMITH extreme are French Connection, Predator
went into my local WHS today hoping to get the extreme DVD deals. dropped wife off in tesco's just a few doors away first and while in tesco's noticed they also had the exteme dvd offer.
the same fox dvds were in the tesco offer as people has listed in the WHS offer. but one big difference, the tesco's offer is £19.99 each or 2 for £24.
remembering they were only 2 for £18 at whs I went along to whs. in whs they only had about 5 titles on the shelf, xmen 1.5 and predator weren't included. xmen 1.5 was on another shelf for £15.99, still cheaper than teso's £19.99.
so i asked one of the staff and he said yes there were more titles in the offer but no one had got around to putting the stickers on them. and xmen 1.5 was in the deal. so i asked if predator was also in the deal and if they had any in stock as i couldn't see any on the shelves.
they had predator in stock and he went down to the stock room to get a copy.
i can't belive they have these dvds in the offer yetcan't be bothered to advertise them and put the stcikers in. If i hadn't read about the offer here I wouldn't have a clue. i probably would have paid £24 for 2 at tesco's and thought i had got a good deal. Or paid £15.99 for just xmen 1.5 at whs not knowing just another £2 could get me another full price dvd.
what's the point of having a 'great offer' if no one knows about it and people are still paying the full price for dvds.
anyway thanks to avforums i saved £11 on the DVDs (predator was £13) and another £15 on the littlewoods offer.
That's £26 in one day.
went to smiths in leatherhead and picked up x men 1.5 and men of honor, made my way to the counter and asked the nice looking girl behind it if the dvd's were on offer, two for £18. She replied that they were not as they did not have stickers on them so I explained that i had seen the offer explained on the internet. She again stated that as they did not have stickers on them then there was no offer.
So I asked her if she could check for me, so she sighed and agreed to scan them. 10 seconds later with the till showing a discount and the total of £18 she looked suprised and aplogised and I walked away with the dvd's.
Now then are smith's just a bunch of incompetent's or are they trying to rip us off hoping that we'll buy the dvd's separately and therefore making a bigger profit for them.
Was it a 'Saturday Girl' ?
Generally they do not have the up to date info at hand, especially if the offer started in the week. I blame the management!
she could be a bit thick.
