I'm slightly confused about this as the retail price suggests it is the new packaging version which is going for £26.99 on Play. But they say it's not due for release until Feb 05. Anyone know the answer?

the one on amazon is the original at £30.79
the same one at play is £59.99

the newer ones( in the m-lock packaging/digipack) the first 3 came out 11/10/2004
the next 3 come out 27/12/2004
and the final 3 come out on 28/02/2005
from what i can see it is just the packaging that is different so if you have the originals go for the one from amazon less than 1/2 price

    Great spot The_Pauley !

That now completes my X Files collection...........I've been waiting to snap it up at a bargain price, and didn't want to have pick up the new digipak version to do so.

    Order placed :)

Why does it say that you only save 4 UKP this sugests that its the digipak which is not out yet???

Anyone got it yet and can confirm???

PS: You can order Season 9 from play for 26.99 but it does say that it isn't released yet but you can still order it now?

    Hi,

My estimated despatch date is tomorrow, with estimated delivery for Mon/Tues next week, so I'll confirm then.

The repackaged season 9 is not out until Feb 2005 as you rightly point out - I can only imagine that Amazon are getting rid of their current stocks, but have quoted the RRP for the repackaged version instead.

    Ian.

Mine was despatched a few days ago. So definitely the digipak version. Release date confirms this too - June 2004.

The fold out packaging that the original X Files releases come in is Digipak.

Cardboard fold out packaging with see-thru plastic disc trays attached is a Digipak.

    eh?????????????????????????????

I think you mean the original "box set" is cardboard fold out with see-thru trays (ie no dvd cases)

The newer (priced 34.99) is digipak/m-pack, but is 3 amerary DVD cases each holding two discs all packaged in a box.

But this hasn't been release yet.

Hence either amazon have made a mistake and RRP is not 34.99 or its a pre-order for next year.

I think it very unlikely that it is the digipak, but you can get the original version from DVDcrave for around 30 depending on exchange rate.

Have a look at HMV website. They are selling they original ones for £34.99! except Season 9.

These are good prices if you cant wait until after Christmas for the cheaper new packaged ones.

Ordered it on Monday and got it on Wednesday!!!

Wondered what it was in a box big enough to hold 4 Argos catalogues!

A bit over the top with the packing but mores better that less.

I though you got a voucher with your first amazon order???

If the RRP is around 35 quid then its going to be the digipak for series 1-3.

It has (M-lock) so I guess it is the digipak it is also unlikey you will see the older version for sale (new) for anything like this.

All series 1-3 can be found for about 24 quid the original link to amazon seemed strange as the digipak for 4- aren't out yet. But the series 9 was/is the foldout version.

The one in the Choices Direct link is the new M Lock packaging. M Lock is NOT Digipak.

The original box sets in the card fold out sleeves are Digipak.

There are two versions in the UK, the original cardboard foldout is the digipack (any DVD's in those plastic trays are digipacks), and the new smaller box is the M-Lock one.

To make matters even more confusing, the R4 versions are now in amaray cases (3 in a sleve).

I'm even more confused now, but I see why people say everything is digipak.

I've seen the cardboard foldouts and the ones in amary cases (which must be the import ones)

The current (marked june/july04) releases must be the M-lock ones then???

Amazon appear to have reduced it further to 28.69

They also have seasons 7 & 8 at the same price, I guess they are getting rid of old stock then?
