Hope this is the correct place for this thread..........

I have X-Files S1 - 7, region 2. Is there any advantage selling these and buying the re-released versions later on this year ??.

I think DVD Talk is the better place for this thread Paul. ;)

According to Play, the X Files are being re-released on 4th October and they are all listed stating clearly that they are Digipacks.

Only the first three seasons are out in October. The rest is December and March next year.

They can be got at around £23 right now from DVD Crave for the R4's.

The versions DVDCrave are selling should be exactly the same as the UK releases when they are releases as the R4 sets are also encoded for R2 so the only difference will be the packaging.

I also paid £60-£70 per season for S1-S4. I then decided to get R2 for S5 and S6 as I got them for £40 each. I now have S7, S8 and S9 on R4 at £23 each (£18+£5 postage). They are all digipacks.

I am not bothered about the extra docs on the R1 as they would probably be watched only once. I rather get the sets cheap as possible.

I wouldn't be surpised if digipacks were reduced so that they run out and then the new packaging is made available.

I didn't like the digipacks from R1 as they held the discs to tight. Since then the disc hubs have been improved considerably.

Also, the reduced R2's are available in October are for S1-S3. The rest are out in December and March !!
