    Last time we saw Scully and Mulder on the big screen was 2008's X-Files: I Want To Believe. Chris Carter talking to Empire Magazine, says if a third film ever happens, he would like Simon Pegg in the cast;

    I was a big fan of the tv series..but thought the last film came along way, way too late and wasn't much good. Could be time to put this franchise to sleep?

    I have no issue with the creator wanting to bring it back. Plus he is working on other new projects.

    Personally i would love to see the duo back on the big screen.

    X-Files is part of pop culture, referenced in tv/films, it's not quite asleep.

    Though you could say titles from the 80's are asleep, but they keep rebooting them ;)

    As long as Scully acts like her character in The Fall, I'm in. Dirty cow :laugh:

    A new movie that does the series justice would be a great idea. The last film was utter crap.

    I quite liked the last film but it did feel like an idea that would have worked better as a single standalone TV episode but was stretched a bit thin over a full length movie.

    If they're going to return to the show's mythology for their story it might be good, but the whole UFO/super soldier/colonization thing really wore me out by the time they finished the TV show's run. I found myself liking the weird standalone episodes a lot more than the ones covering the big story arc by the end. I would like to see Mulder and Scully working together again though, they always had good onscreen chemistry, but then so did Scully and Robert Patrick's character when he took up the reigns when Mulder took the back seat for a season or two. I'm not sure any new film they make, if they make one, would have the must-watch factor the TV show had for me, but it depends on what they come up with, I guess. I wouldn't exactly be bothered if they left it dead though

    I hope this happens as I am a massive fan of the X-Files. Simon Pegg being in it is pretty irrelevant and all I care about is Mulder, Skully & Skinner.

    I was a fan of the series, at least until they started to phase out Mulder and Scully, but neither of the films did much for me. The first film was too tied into the ongoing show's increasingly silly mythology to stand on its own (from around season 3 I preferred the better stand alone episodes to the mythology ones). The second film felt like a lesser stand alone episode, padded out to feature length.

    It would be nice if they made film that gets it right. I don't think Chris Carter himself did a great job with writing the films and he should get in someone else, ideally one of the better writers for the show like Vince Gilligan (since then of Breaking Bad fame) or Darin Morgan. Morgan wrote what I think were the shows two best episodes, Clyde Bruckman's Last Repose and Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'. They weren't just high points of the show, they were among the two best hours of TV drama ever.
