X-BOX hard drive use

Apologies for this question, I'm sure it has been posed before but counld not find it. I have a 60GB hard drive on my x-box, and I am trying to find out wether you download movies on to the hard drive from an external source i.e flash drive, or laptop. The reason is I am in the forces and am looking to take my X-BOX with me on deployment and rather than take a laptop with movies and such I want to take my X-BOX with movies on it if possible. Or can I take an external HDD with movies on and plug in via the USB port and get the x-box to play from that. Any advice greatly received.

The only way would be to use an external hdd as you cant put your own movies on the 360's hdd.

I take it then I can just run a usb lead from the external hdd to the x-box and that will work.

Correct, your only option is a USB external HDD as the only option would be streaming but that would require you to take your laptop which you said you didn't want to

You have to make sure the HDD is formatted in FAT32 or HFS as the xbox wont read anything else.
