Hi, First of all this is my situation. Got an X-box this year in Febuary mainly for the games and we already had a PS2 and GC in the house. Had a DVD player since about summer 2000, was only a budget player but was multi-region and I must say it had great picture quality, in fact it was better than the models brought out afterwards, and never seems to get the blips on the screen you still sometimes you see today on budget plaers when reading DVD's. However it is starting to get on a bit and is having problems reading somes disc that is seems new budget models play fine play. I'm now thinking of either getting a new budget DVD player or getting the DVD playbakc kit and a region X, when it is released, Which should I do? Basically I'm leaning towards the X-box as the kit and region x will only cost me somethin like £35-40 pounds, this would esentaliy give me a DVD player and then sometime in the future when I have the money I could get a more expnesive DVD player with progressive scan etc. But I was considering buying a cheap budget DVD player instead from £50 quid upwards if the X-box has major problems. So basically is the X-Box DVD playback good and are there any problems. Does it output out a good NTSC picture and does it do this automatically if you put a region 1 disk in it (using region x of course), does it output Pal 60 or anything, I buy a lot of region 1 DVD's so this is very important? Is the picture good quality? Basically I need a quick review! Would it be as good as buying a new budget DVD player? I have a 24 inch widescreen TV so I don't know if this should effect my desicion. I don't know if it's important but x-box hasn't been chipped or anything and i'm not intrested in doing this at the moment. Seeing as my X-box is new does this mean any problems with earlier releases may be fixed, I'v heard they do thiss with consoles so should this effect my desicion? Does anyone know if Region x is, will be, any good? I've also heard that the US x-box has a large lists of disks it can't play like LOTR:extended edition, is the same for the UK? are there any particular problems I should know about wether it's disc reading or picture quality? I also read that disc reading problems or not playing dvd's is connected to what dvd drive you have in your x-box (they have used three)? As much info as possible would be great as I can be quite nic-picky!! Any opinions on what you would do would also be great.
