    Hi,

I would like to buy an X Box are there any good deals on the go at the moment, I'am not to bothered about bundled games packs as I will mostly be playing racing games anyway.

Also I want to use it on a projector via component does a US imported X Box give a better display than a UK spec X Box i.e. a smoother image.

As much as I can gather the X Box seems the way to go, any pro's and con's.

    Thanks in advance!

    Klippie.

US Xbox will give you HDTV modes, PAL won't, which on a projector will be a big bonus.

    Regards,
    Neil.

A chipped xbox will give you HDTV and you can play US, UK and Jap games :D A switch will allow you to go on LIVE without being locked out.

www.premodded.co.uk is what I've been looking at.

Yes but when you use the switch you lose all the HDTV options. Pmelon can get US Xbox for around 160quid all in. PM me if you want his contact details. I've got two xboxs, 1 PAL and 1 NTSC. It doesn't work out that much more than modding your console but you get the best of both worlds.

    Regards,
    Neil.

    Thanks for the info,

    Neil,
I will not be using xbox live does this make a difference, also are there US games readily available in the UK and do they all support the higher resolutions of HDTV.

I'am still looking around at the moment but I will decide soon.

Nearly all xbox games support atleast 480p, only one, Agent under Fire, [which happens to be crap anyway :D ] doesn't.
US games you are best to import from somewhere like DVDBoxoffice [www.dvdboxoffice.com]
If you don't want to use Xbox Live then it may be worth considering getting a modded console.

I've also bought a couple of bits from http://www.next-gen.co.uk/

You can pick up imports from Computer Exchange also.

    Regards,
    Neil.

    One other thing:

Unless you go the modded route, newer PAL xboxs will only support 480i from component leads.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

Computer Exchange also stock US Xbox consoles with 12 month guarantees, if you decide to go that route . . . £130 for one in the Leeds store at the mo.
