We are currently going through a new build and have been recommend these extenders for the av cupboard to source.

transmiting full 1080p HD video and audio HDMI signal over a Cat5ei/6/7 cable upto 40m

WyreStorm HDMI extender set with IR

does anyone have an experience of these extenders or could you recommend anything else? I am a totally newbie when it comes to this sort of stuff.

For now will be running SKY Q and a blu-ray player.

thanks

They look like they are discontinued and probably a reason for that

Maybe you could expand on what you are trying to achieve, is it multiple TVs or just one ?

We were trying to have all the av equipment in one place. There will be two tvs one in the lounge and one in the family room. So was really looking for a simple system to send the Sky Q (4k if possible)to one and the Sky Mini box to the other.

Extenders - anything you purchase now ought to support HDCP 2.2 and as Seb says the most reliable point to point solution will utilise HDBaseT (HDBT) technology.

Octava HD100STP – The Media Factory

System - it would be good to see a complete overview of your proposed system, audio often trips folk up if they are planning a mix of 5.1 and TV Audio zones.

In that case 2 x HDBaseT HDMI over Cat5/6 extenders would do that job.
The one you linked to certainly wouldn't do UHD 4K HDCP2.2 required by SkyQ

We use these

HDCP 2.2 HDBaseT Extender Set - 70m 4K up to 40m Bi-directional IR Bi-directional PoH PoE

We have 3 x cat6a cables being run to each room, these are all terminated at faceplates behind the tvs, or will breaks cause problems?

Dont use cat6A, as harder to run and terminate, and offers you nothing extra over short distances.

We normally dont recommend using faceplates but HDBaseT is more forgiving and "usually" is fine with faceplates, however leave enough spare cable behind the faceplate should you need to terminate directly

Right now its really just a basic system with the potential to expand if required. In the cupboard will be the two sky boxes, nas/server and a blu-ray possibly. We will have one hdmi access point in each room to use consoles if required and 3 x cat6 points behind the tvs. Audio wise we are just going to hook up soundbars to the tv with optical cables or wireless.

Its what the guys have in stock apparently, they either use cat5 or cat6a. I will maybe get a couple of cables run behind the face plates that can be used if required. Thanks for the help. Do you offer any discount for avforum members off the extenders?!:)

Another note, if you did want to go for a HDBaseT Matrix at some later date the receivers in the HDBaseT extender set would also work with a matrix

System - the trick is to ensure you have the cabling in place to cater for your potential 'expansion'.

Soundbar - might be worth going with ARC enabled devices and hook the 'extended' Sources to the Soundbar rather than to the TV to avoid potential EDID issues.
