These are available free to UK households (5 per house), but I need another for my dad.

Nothing major required, just a freephone call to Sky (from a "TV licensed UK household") & the card will be posted out FOC.

Then a quick call once the card is installed in the digibox to "activate" the card.

Will cost no more than a stamp & a few minutes, but my dad would really like one for CH4 racing, ITV etc...

Really looking for a "good" pesrson to help here - BBC are supposed to be going "free to air" in June. Nothing required i.e. no expense, just a few mins helping a fellow forum member (albeit a lowly Irish one :().

If anyone's willing to help I'll run them through the details via PM/e-mail.

    Anyone take pity?

    :)

    Kramer,

I have to get one of these myself right now as I have just got hold of a Sky digi box. If they will send out 2 in one go you may have the spare.

It is the bbc you have to call btw not sky on 08702 438000

    Right Kramer,

it seems that now you have to not only phone up and request the card to a licenced house but also provide details of your box. I thought this was only necessary at the time you phoned up to get the card switchde on but the woman at the call centre got arsey  so I left it...PMT I expect

Anyway if you can provide me with the box make/model number, the serial number and the EPG software number  then we are in business. I am in the same boat almost as my box is at home so I have none of this info to hand. However they are open until 11 tonight so I'll see what happens

I rang up for one the other day sorry Kramer but I'm taking a bit of a risk on the card anyway. And 2 might make them a bit too suspicous. But they just wanted my address details and said sky would post it out in 2-3 days. They are all going FTV in a couple of months anyhow.

Moved this here from the Classified forum, seems more appropriate here.

I hope you realise that the cards (even the FTV ones) are "married" to the box from which they are provided.
A used card will not work in another box.
The only exception is if you have a porfessional box (like my 19-inch rack mountable Tandberg System 3000) ; these are what $ky use in their studios and links. I had fun requesting a card for this - the droid at the other end of the phone only had the usual Sony, Pace, Panasonic, Grundig and Amstrad on her list :)

Thanks for the replies guys :smashin:

Just getting back to normality after extensive travel throughout the UK.

I know that each card is married to the digibox, hence the benevolent "card giving" member will need to phone Sky once the card is received & in my dad's digibox - still nothing really major.

Can those who "offered" drop me a PM/reply so I can forward my name/address etc..

Once again, it's much appreciated :smashin:

I did this with FTA card registration. After a week nothing happened; no channels appeared. So I called the BBC's FTA number and they said it was a new system and actually that option didn't work. I said that I did wonder about it because it didn't require the digibox's serial number, version number, etc. and they said "quite". So I gave them the right numbers and they did the activation there and then, almost all channels appeared within ten minutes; however, BBC ONE took more than a week to appear.
