    hi,

Firstly a quick hello to the usual suspects. I have transferred departments in work and not finding much time to surf although job is far more engaging than before as I am now dealing with career criminals, ex-offenders, murderers, whores and pimps:suicide:

Anyway, back to the PJ. My wifes employer called over earlier tonight. He wanted to see our cinema room in full flight and brought his wife, son and sons girlfriend over. Thank-fully, they were all suitably impressed and left with thier collective chins dragging on the floor:D :D :D

    Here is the great bit.

The guy is a self made millionare    who asked me a few questions regarding price and has turned around and asked me if I would consider 'helping' him source a PJ, screen et al.

Of course, he is not just talking about £1500.00 as he has serious cash. With cash comes prudence so I am not quite sure of what he wants to spend...but tell me, what could you think of and what would you spend it on if you had a cool £5 - £10k to play with...........

    The fun starts here:devil:

I keep saying it but nobody has taken me up on it yet...the Projection Design F1 Action.

Will blow everything else into the weeds!! I even use it in cheap systems where the customer doesn't want to pay the normal £30k for a projector.

    Heres my 2p.

If the guy liked your setup why not tell him to get the same as you. Bottom line is if he as any snaggs he will be looking for you to help him out. Also will this bloke notice the difference between a £1500 (PT300) and a £6k (Barco..ect.)? Proberly not.

If he is a self made man he will be a tight git and not want to spend as much as everyone else here wants him to.

Jack , my thoughts exactly. Although I may urge him to look at the HS10 or wait for the HS20 which looks superb.

You are spot on. Some people are 'mega rich' for a reason, hence my prudence remark. I cant fault him however, as he pays my wife superb money, he paid for her to learn to drive and then bought her a company car!  .

In fact, he looks after all his staff, or rather my wife does, he simply pays them!

Nathan, what would be the best and where would you draw the line. Runco (the best?) have a projector for over £100k and even if I could afford it I dont think I could justify having one even if I watched movies 24/7.

I think the point Captain Benefit and I are making is would he notice the difference betweena a £5-6k system and a £10-15k system?

If this guy likes what Captain Benefit as got, buys it and finds that he enjoys it, great. Most of us have built up our systems over years of upgrading to find the system that suits us. This guy can have years of Captain Benefit 's trials and errors and upgrade himself if he wants to.

If you can afford CRT Projection (and have the space) this offers the best picture quality, beating Plasma, LCD Projection and CRT/LCD Rear Projection.

You don't need to spend daft amounts either- a mint condition new Barco are available at £4000-£5000.

Anyway- he didn't say whether the £15K is a total budget or per item :)

is that when I start talking about 'native widescreen', he thinks I am talking about the last great American indian:laugh:

Then we get onto resolution and he thinks I am being a socialist:laugh::laugh:

Its not gonna be as easy as I thought as I, along with others here, thrive on reading WHC, What hi-fi and co and revel in learning more and more. When you start to use your knowledge people start to go dizzy!!!!

    Should be fun though.
