Usually I see only bad experiences mentioned but I have to mention the excellent service I received from Crampton & Moore, though i'm sure their response is on a case by case basis and does not include every product line they sell.

I received a Sharp 46XL2E at 27/11/7 and it was fine until I started noticing lots of dirty marks and lines when playing games and certain panning conditions. So I spoke to them before christmas and they told me to contact them in the new year to arrange a different TV or swap. So I went again with a 46XL2E and they send it to me and I just did a swap, but the same problems occured.

I wanted to go with a F86 and pay 200 extra but I saw so much moaning here I thought well naw, I dont want to be some problem customer. So I agreed a refund with C&M. They collected the second TV at their expense.

I received my full refund the other day. I cant say I have heard of this level of service before and your usually at odds with many retailers over these types of issues. I suspect though they had quite a few returns over this issue of the crap Sharp 46XL2Es.

Lucky you. I'm still waiting for a Samsung HD1080 they were selling as part of a deal when I brought my F86...and that was in October! :thumbsdow

Always thought that you had to have stock of an item if you were offering it as part of a deal...

    Hi,
Got my TV at the weekend from these guys after good reviews on these forums.
Was going to buy online but needed to do it via paypal on my credit card. I wanted the credit card statment to read the seller not paypal so i phoned and visited the store to pay/pick up as I only live in Nottingham.
All I can say is, very helpful, TV specialists not electrical retailers.
I mentioned that I had read about the TV I wanted being either good or bad out of the box, and that they were noted for replacing faulty ones, they replied that they only wanted to sell good tv's so bad ones go back, that simple.

Ordered a TV from these guys yesterday, was told in an email that their courier would phone me to arrange delivery. Didn't hear anything from them today though- for those of you who have bought from them, is this normal procedure? Just wondering how long it normally takes them to deliver.

I know it's only been a day, but it's a lot of money to fork out and not have an inkling when to expect delivery. Thanks.

CRAMPTON & MOORES CUSTOMER CARE SUCKS!!!!!!

I'd advice against using these guys. I've had my Samsung 32" LCD for under 20 months and it's delevoped a fault. I contacted Mr Moore himself and he's just fobbed me off. Said I should've had the extended warranty!! Obviously I'm going to fight this, but if it had been say John Lewis' bet they'd take it and sort it out. I WON'T buy from Crampton and Moore again thats for sure. When I bought the TV it cost £799. So as you can imagine I'm a bit *****d off.

Majority of places only offer a standard 1 year warranty, I would expect a TV to last longer than 20 months. I'm suprised they did'nt offer some sort of compromise but they are not required to at the end of the day.

When buying a TV you have to look at the pro's and cons of extended warranty and ask yourself if it did break, the cost of possible repair could be more than the extended warranty in the first place.

I'm not sure any firm would take back a TV outside of the warranty period - you choose whether to take an extended warranty or risk manufacturer's warranty lasting you out. In your case the TV was fine for 12 months + so therefore you were fully covered until the end of the first year only. If you wanted more cover you would need to purchase more cover - directly or otherwise.

Why do you expect C&M(or any other retailer of goods) to take it back now? They are a business they only cover you if they are covered - they don't replace from their own pocket and can't approach manufacturer with a TV over a yr old else no point selling insurance/warranties eh? Besides maybe you can buy a better one now, no? I'm keeping my old widescreen tv in case anyway.

To the forumite that has just placed an order recently, my order took c2 wks and the courier didn't ring until over 1 wk later but then delivered promptly.

Best thing I would say is to sit back and try to relax - it will turn up (mine c8am). Better to get your space, cables (HDMI), stand, ps3 & blu-ray test dvds...etc. ready so you can quickly conduct initial tests to help you decide if to keep, change or whatever.

After reading good reviews about these guys and getting a good deal i decided to order yesterday my SAMSUNG LE46F86BD with 3 years warrenty and a free dvd player for £1400, not bad really.

I couldnt order online as my card kept declining so i had to ring them and order, seemed like a nice chap, although i havnt got any confirmation emails or anything yet, im hoping i get a phone call today from the couriers or something because i dont like being kept in the dark.

I will report back on their service and the tv.

They get a thumbs up from myself. I purchased a Sharp over christmas that they let me change for a Toshiba due to issues with the original screen.

    Very helpful overall.

Only issue is and I don't know if they still are using City Link, try avoiding delivery with them. C&M had to ship me out another TV due to City Link losing the set for a week and then turning up at my house trying to deliver the same TV that looked like it had been through a Hurricane, Tsunami, Earth orbit re-entry, you get the idea. :D

I avoid eBay and TV's after my last experience, and personally have no experience of Crampton and Moore.

Apparently Currys etc do the same though, fob you off back to the manufacturer when there's a problem with the set. They even made another 250 techguys redundant in December, even though there was a backlog of work for them. It's the price you pay when you buy at the cheapest price. I brought mine from Dixons, but from reading the posts on here I knew beforehand that i'm likely to be fobbed off to the manufacturer if it developes a fault. But hey, it was cheap as chips :smashin: So Crampton and Moore aren't alone in this.

Just makes you wonder why people keep going back to these companies that treat you like **** once they've got your money! If everyone stayed away they'd have to sit up and take notice when their profits take a massive dive!.....Your right about the post being deleted by the way  Someone needs to take these ******* to task!

It was interesting that there was something on BBC last night that John Lewis were doing very well on electricals such as TV's. I certainly think Dixons/ Comet need worry, because if they're the same price or even just 5% more expensive I know where i'm buying from. Aftersales customer service could make the difference between a company going bust or surving in the credit crunch. It seems to me many retailers are going through the books are seeing where they can make cutbacks, and it normally aftersales service which comes first on their list.

If John Lewis ran a TV commerical stating that they match the price of Argos, Currys, Comet but also included a free 5 year warrenty I think they would be in serious trouble. So few people seem to know they price match and include a free 5 year warrenty. They're mad not to advertise it.

Yeah I'll second that about John Lewis. My wife bought me something for Christmas from them and she said from start to finish they were great to deal with. She called them on the phone for information and was amazed about the info she got. Like I said though for who ever reads this....avoid Crampton and Moore like the plague!

Whats going on with this thread? New member UTO joins today and in his first post quotes a ziffius post which isn't originally in the thread which was last responded to over a year ago by Rottenfox.

Uto's first post got deleted, I can only imagine the mods deleted mine because it quoted that post (or atleast I think it did). But my post was of topic anyhow.

Why you see my quoted post, it's quite funny as the original post got deleted.

@ UTO, i suggest as you cant post anything sensible, dont post at all.
please refrain from name calling, and circumventing the swear filter, and until you can post proof of your issue, or something concrete, then as i say, dont bother posting.

as to the ebay feedback for C&M, some of them are utterly pointless, as you can imagine, there are some fools out there, who will bad strike for anything, like wrong delivery(why is that c&m's fault, and not the delivery company), and also items which are perfectly described, being "not exact", and others stating a bad strike as the item was cheaper on their website..

if you have good or bad experiences, then fine, post about them - and also be prepared to post with proof, but dont just mouth off, like some keyboard warrior, it wont be tolerated

I have had a very very bad deal with C&M and wouldn't call it name calling at all and yes I do have numerous letters from them stating basically that they are not going to do anything about my problem. In the end it was Samsung who dealt with it and under the Trade Description Act it should have been C&M. Their customer relations (in my opinion) is the worst I have every known!

I just want to warn people who may be looking at purchasing a TV or other electrical products to be aware that is all......like I said isn't that the point of forums.

If that's not the case the by all means delete all my posts and I will not leave anything in future!

MOD EDIT: it would be interesting to hear exactly what "issue" you had that was dealt with using the Trade Description Act.

yeah i live just round the corner from their main shop/warehouse, they are really reliable with great after-sales service. In the past ive bought a panasonic 100 hertz 32" crt tv plus my current 32" samsung lcd with a 3 year guarantee and 26" sanyo lcd in the bedroom. The border was slightly coming away on the samsung 32" when i bought it, i called them and they told me to take it to the warehouse where a guy would be waiting with a replacement, which he was, had a perfect replacement within the hour, 2 years later the power supply failed on i, i called em up and they sent a guy round the same week, replaced the part and had no trouble with it since, will definitely use them in the future. They price matched and threw in a £20 hdmi lead with my telly too, bonus! Hope this helps.
