Wow. I can now say thank you Mr Sammy! Just had the experience of HD on my Sammy. Took me a while to learn the setting but, wow, what can one say but roll on HD. It was better than I thought it could ever be on the Sammy. Forget Sagem, only second best quality! What do others think?

Thank you Andy and Steve who taught me what I needed and how to do it. I was only usng svga but wow.

Hey i am getting the Sammy tmrw mistycat.

Just wondering how you would compare the richness of the plasma set to the sammy. Cos i have seen the pic on plasmas to be much better wherever i go now i think thats due to the feed.!!!

The sammys are advertised very badly if at all so why are they out of stock everywhere in the uk? While you can pick up the other DLPs without a hitch???? Is there a silent campaign going on against this set among the retail giants

You are so cynical i would be very surprised if Comet & Currys were trying to get rid of their old stock of Plasma's
If you think sammys are advertised badly what about the Optoma RD50 i don't think they advertise at all

Plasma never tempted me i allways thought the picture on my old CRT set was more natural with more lifelike colours.
In what hi fi sound & vision April 2005 edition they have lumped the DLP sets in with the plasma sets in the best buy section there was only 7 sets to get 5 stars
& 3 of them were DLP sets one was your Sammy & my Optoma Rd50 had 5 stars as well
For my opinion on home cinema magazines see

Got mine from Costco for the usual 2329 price. Got it today but sadly havent got time to set it up and watch it. Gonna have to wait for a month or so to see it properly but family is enjoying it which is good enough for me.

None of the current crop of DLP sets can do 1280x768 it would just be downsized to
1280x720 or maybe you would have 24 pixels missing top & bottom it should be allright with 1280x720 ?

    sorry did post wrong.
    it should be:

is it true that the Samsung SP50L7HX can not display 1280x720 screen resolution on the digital input FROM A PC SOURCE? only 1024x768 and 800x600 ?

On the German forum they write, it is only possible to set up the set with lower than native resolution.

I am watching my screen now as I type this and the setting is 1280 by 1050 or something. Absolute perfection, while I lay back in my leather armchair and type, watching the Sammy screen. Talk about an interactive internet!

So you would not be able to connect a PC via DVI & get 1 to1 pixel matching at 1280x720 is that what u mean ? if true it would be a minus point if you plan to use a Home Theartre PC

How can it be "absolute perfection" when the set isn't capable of 1280x1050 or something resolution?
    It is getting downscaled somewhere.

Yeah, bloody typical isn't it, the Sagem works well with my HTPC in so far as 1280x720 works and looks great but apart from that it's awful. The sammy looks like everything else is right but won't work as well with my HTPC... I just can't win!

I can't say if the picture quality of my Optoma RD50 is as good as the Sammy as i havent seen it yet but it can do 1280X720 via DVI or VGA & can also play R1 DVD's with a HTPC

I'd wait for a Sammy owner to confirm it if i were you.
