Ello. Enjoying Live 8 & there hasnt even been any live music yet! anyway,
has anyone actually bought one of these LCD's. I know, from reading here, that the tv only receives pal signals, but other than that, looks like a good bargain. Would be great to get some info about this tv from someone thats actually used it.

    Thanks, pixelP :)

thanks Xelon. Glad you are enjoying your new tv. Looking forward to your review! Specs l& connections look good with this tv. Regarding LCD's in general anyone know if its true that a 26" ws lcd is the equivilant of a 28" ws crt size-wize?

Hi pixelpidgeon - We've just changed from a 28" Pana widescreen CRT to a JVC 26" LCD, and the LCD is just half-an-inch smaller than the CRT. :smashin:

Heya Chris, should have known I would find you here!

I am also considering this panel, I was looking at the Video7 one from Ebuyer but this Acer one looks a better choice. I've recently moved flats and just don't have that much room, so I'm looking to replace my old 28 inch CRT which is big and incredibly heavy, mainly want to use the panel for Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 and probably some gaming for my desktop system as well.

Given the price, would this LCD TV be a good choice or would I be better spending some more for my use, or at a different technology entirely?

Well I went ahead and brought this TV :) It is great, and I am pleased with my purchase. It is not as good as some of the much more expensive sets like the Hitachi 32LD7200 but for the price of £800 it is amazing. The set looks nice although the speakers on the side do make it quite large (these are detachable). I can confirm that I have watched an NTSC DVD from my PS2 using S-video cable, don’t know where the idea came that it could not playback NTSC but it works for me. The fan is noisier than I would have liked, however oddly the fan has its own cover with 4 screws which I would assume means you could easily replace the fan with a super quiet one without having to remove the entire back and void the 2 year warrantee. If anyone can recommend a super quiet one then let me know and I will give it a go. The normal analogue picture is really good, but I was not so impressed with my Sony freeview picture, however DVD through same scart socket is good, so I can only assume the issue is with the freeview receiver rather than the set. It is my first LCD so maybe it is case that big high quality screen shows discrepancy in the picture that I had not seen before on my old Sony CRT. The VGA input worked well and I thought the output from my computer looked superb on the screen, with nice sharp fonts etc. If anyone has a question then send it to me, but to wrap this up if you have limited budget this set is superb with lots of features and connectors, HD ready and good picture. There are also more reviews on dabs.

    Hi Chris

    Here's my review http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=224816

I too am a little dissapointed with the fan noise but like you I am thinking of replacing it with a quieter one, maybe one with a thermal sensor, have you had a look yet to see what size the fan is?

Hello to every Acer 32" LCD owner (AT3201), I'm a new one.
In these few days I connect all my Home Theater and I'm very pleased of the result.
General TV It's good enough (better than I hoped), I've seen yesterday evening Moto GP and I was very happy to see no bad artifact or too much noise in the images
DVD looks great from SVideo but I would like to try with a new one DVD with DVI connection (if anyone has alredy tried It let me know if the difference is sensible)
With my nootebook with VGA the desktop is very good but the resolution I can reach with it it's only 1024x768 I'll try with a PC with a graphyc card more powerfull for reaching the native resolution(1366x768)
What about the noise of the fan? Yes I can hear it.
The first who find a silent fan to change it has to make a post...please
Anyone knows how to enter in some deep menu if there is a deep menu (I mean somewhere where i can change every paramenter of my TV)?
The last thing what is: "Superior DVD video quality with 3:2/2:2 pull-down recovery" that is written on the box?

For everyone who would like to buy it, I say : buy two
According to me it's the best choice:
    Price/Value 10
    Picture 9
    Sound 7 (who cares)
    Connectivity 10
    Settings 7
    Look 10
    Overral 9,5

I guess the fan noise probably wouldn't bother me that much, I'm more likely to be using headphones with it anyway.

Bit concerned about quality though, since the main use of the tv is going to be for gaming, is there a more expensive model that would be worth spending the extra on?

I've just picked two of the AT3201W 32" units up through staff sales with my company for £699 inc vat each and I must admit for a cost effective screen. I cant fault it.

The screen weighs 20kg and has 200x100 VESA mounting holes on the back.

If anyone needs any more informantion drop me a PM.

    Fatlab,

Been offered a similar deal, but still uming and arring (not sure if they are real words), concerned about dead pixels, noticed some on a couple of the acer tft monitors. Are the screens you bought clean ie dead pixel free.

These sound good, fan noise aside. Can they cope with a pure NTSC signal from a DVD player, and PAL60HZ from a games console?

Had mine for about 3 weeks, no dead pixels, these ACER's are equiped with the latest LCD Panels, hence the 800:1 CR and 12ms RT, amazing PQ, the best I've seen on any LCD.

I have been reading the various comments on this LCD TV and it sounds good. Trouble is the space I have to put it in is not quite as wide as the TV. Could someone please let me know how wide this set it with the speakers detached.
I assume they are still connected with cable if removed so still usable.
    Thanks.

Prycop - As nobody has replied I found an image of the LCD TV taken head on, loaded it into a CAD programme, drew a rectangle the overall size of the set, 1018 x 616mm and resized the picture to fit the box. Then dimensioned the set without the speakers and came up with 830 to 835mm. This usually works reasonably well as I have used this method on buildings to get a guide dimension. I would be interested to know how accurate this is. Anyone want to let me know?

Thanks for that - I was thinking also about the aesthetic (spelling/) side of things ie. no speakers?

    Anyone?

Overdue, I have detached my speakers (simply because I always use my amp.) The connecting cables are very short, and the speakers are shaped such that they wouldn't stand up on their own. So I don't think it's practical to detach them and still use them.

I'll measure the set minus the speakers this evening (if I remember).

Thanks for that Graham, I would appreciate an accurate dimension.
I note that on the Dabs web site someone has commented that it looks much better without the speakers attached. This may also be of interest to Prycop. I guess I would probably connect it to the hi-fi or get a simple surround system. Trouble is room is at a premium.
These Acer 32" LCD sets seem to be selling like hot cakes on Dabs, was 73 in stock last Saturday now down to about 29 today (Tuesday morning).

Apologies for the delay, but the width of the TV without the speakers is 81.6cm

    Hope this helps.
