The police seem to have got nothing better to do than to go around inspecting window displays, and assessing them on taste grounds.

Chief Inspector Mary Whitehouse of the Offensive Window Display Squad was most alarmed at the shop's provocative use of orange t-shirts on a green background.

Political correctness gone mad....and this in a shop in Brighton, which I always thought was quite a liberal town.

Nothing to do with PC - just an example of prudishness and ultra-conservative attitudes

Not offensive to me in the least. As an ad man, I appreciate the concise humour! Whether I'd want my kid wearing such a slogan on their clothing is another matter ...

but offensive or not, surely the police should be out doing more important things than monitoring window displays - unless likely to cause public disturbance or race issues.

How many prudes have to be offended before an offence is committed?

I must admit the Telegraph running that article brings a great sense of irony! A right wing paper, flagging up right wing censorship! Marvelous!:D

The T-shirt would have been reported, quite literally by the 'new Mary Whitehouse' brigade. My SIL is a member. Believe me they are watching to make sure YOU (sorry their right wing, religious, mates) aren't offended by 'naughtiness'!

They have a direct line (I've seen the evidence) to the Tory party, the Mail, and other right wing organisations.

They also of course, have a direct line to God. Or so they say.................. *sighs*

    Hi,

It does seem an incredibly big waste of time by the police. Having said that, I've seen police officers arrest people for wearing controversial t-shirts, with dubious or potentially suspect slogans on them, e.g. "Jesus Is A C***!" So, I guess it's down to the local police and what they feel is worthy of their time.

Shame they seem to have got their priorities totally wrong! And that t-shirt slogan in the article, isn't that funny all things considered.
