Well if the resolution of this screen is 1024x720 then it would be an ideal match because it can output 720p via the DVI output. I've got one and the picture is incredible so in terms of getting the most out of your SD DVD collection then I think you'd be hard pushed to beat it for much less than £500. It also plays divx and dvd-audio if they're of any importance to you.

    yes it is 1024x720

the pv500 only has a hdmi connection does that matter or does it have to be the same (dvi) as player.

also can you choose what to upscale to such as 720p or 1080.

    thanks

You can use the supplied DVI cable (if it's long enough!) and use a DVI->HDMI adaptor, that's not a problem at all. And yes you can upscale to 720p or 1080i. I suspect 720p will be the optimum setting for your display though.

    Cheers

A dvi to hdmi cable would do the trick and should you buy an Oppo then they give you a choice of whether you want it with a 5 foot dvi to dvi or a 6 foot long dvi to hdmi included with the player at no extra charge.

Must say I'm really impressed with my Oppo, absolutely terrific through the digital connection. Also mine was multi region out of the box, haven't seen anyone else posting this.
