Would connecting my PC to my projector via component look ok ?

Hi I am looking to attach my new PC to my projector. now my grapgics card on my PC has a DVI port and I do have a DVI port on my projector so it would seem obvious to just buy a DVI cable.

only problem is I have all my cables sealed to my wall using trunking and it would be a pain to take it all down just to add a DVI cable.

any way another option I have is to attach my PC to my projector using component using a DVI 2 component adapter >> I sopose like this http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/5m-component-dvi.html

Ok so my ? is ! do you think I will still get excellent picture Quality on my screen ??

using it to play games on the big screen and some movies.

thanks for any input !

Hi Jamie,

I don't see why not, but the type of signal may be different so you will have to make sure that the PC DVI signal (it should be analogue like VGA) can be processed by the pj via the component input. There is a difference between SCART RGB and Component RGB for instance, so make sure the pj can accept it.

ooh, i'd be wary, i was looking into this a while back as a friend of mine was interested in a htpc for his tv that didnt have a vga/dvi or hdmi input.

I remember getting a lot of mixed feedback with people saying a separate box was needed.

I think it was something like that.

This was about a year ago so things may have changed since then, but thought it was worth mentioning anyway.

It will give a reasonable picture but using vga / hdmi will produce a sharper image.

Bearing in mind you can pick up an adapter on ebay for £5 just give it ago.
