I already have the kicker 400.1 amp seen here and I am buying a JL audo 12W7 seen here . And I would just like to know if it would even work or do I need to buy a new amp just to run it. I am going to buy a new amp eventually but I need a temporary solution.

I always like matching a subwoofer RMS with an amplifier equal to the task if not slightly better, it gives that little bit of headroom. The 12w7 are awesome subwoofers but are very stiff and need a fair bit of power to get them going.

I think your amp will work, there is no reason why it shouldn't but remember and match the ohms with the dual voice coil. 400 watts will give you nice bass capable of sounding quite good. Don't expect it to pound though as you really need more power for SPL.

EDIT: This thread looks suspiciously like the one here...LOL
