    Hi guys.

I have had my Sony KDFE50-A12 for over a year now (50" sony rear projection)

I have been very happy with it, but fancy an upgrade to a full 1080p set, for xbox 360 gaming and hd-dvd's.

I am looking at the 46 inch Aquos screen from Sharp (see link below)

    http://www.sharp.co.uk/invt/lc46xd1e#

    I have a few questions:

    1) Is it a decent upgrade from 720p to 1080p, is the difference noticeable in games and hd movies?

    2) What is the cheapest\best deal for the Sharp screen (quidco cashback?)

    3) What could I get for my current screen (with the nice new model glass stand, not the older corner style one)

    4) With the sharp screen, how can I play 360 games in 1080p? Ive heard 1080p is available only over VGA? and that the sharp screen doesnt support 1080p over anything but hdmi....is this true???

    Thanks guys:thumbsup:

With the Sharp you can only get 730p and 1080i over VGA, but the Xbox 360 apparently is best set to 730p anyway.

The 46" and 52" suffers from banding. It's around £1500. Buy from a shop and inspect the screen prior to purchae.

    I have the 42" XD1 btw.

As a Sharp owner, I couldn't care less about VGA anymore, as it means extra processing. HDMI allows native from a PC and is a purer signal. Same for component, off-board scaling has moved from component (ie iscan) to those with HDMI outputs.

Although banding and buzzing issues are a concern.
