I upgraded from a 37PX60 to a 46PZ80.The reasons for this were that my PX60 was full of snakes and I wanted a bigger TV.
The 42PX60 is a fantastic tv and if yours is snake free and you would be going for another 42", then I wouldn'd bother.
However, if you are going to get a bigger tv then an upgrade would be worth it.

Hi mate, I just sold my 42PX60 that is 2 1/2 years old for £440 and got a PZ80 for £599.

You can notice the difference straight away, but I guess I really won't get the benefit until after the 200 hour run in!!!!!

you could upgrade to the 46pz80 from costco for £770, which will give you a bigger screen size , and according to people on this site at a very good price.

I hope that quality does improve with each generation that comes out, as i have the panny before you, the 42pe50, and am seriously thinking of buying this one.

    I think that the PZ70 was/is a better TV than the PZ80.

The PZ70 has a superior scaling chip in my opinion but the PZ80 looks better than the PZ70 with HD material.

I'm looking at upgrading too. I have a 42PX70 and wondered if there is a PZ90 coming this year? Is the PZ80 600 pounds everywhere? Or cheaper now or with better warranty?

someone was trying to tell me the other day that he thought the plasma's flicker and the black levels were not as good a LCD's anymore. I was not fit to argue as i have not seen any of the new TV's but my old girl does not flicker to my eyes anyway

the blacks of lcd isent even close!!!
and the "flickering" is something wery, wery few people can see, but it is nothing like all the negatives with lcd: bad blacks, "fake"colours, bad handling of movement in the picture, etc., etc.
go plasma if you want good film and tv PQ.
