I've currently got a Pioneer ONDigital box, which was bought back in 2001, and is currently being used for Freeview purposes.

Am I going to get noticeably better picture and sound if I were to upgrade it to a Freeview box, especially one with a digital audio output, as I've got a processor that I could hook it up to (preferably co-ax, but optical would be fine, I'm sure)?

What seem to be the best boxes on the market at the moment for picture and sound?

    Thanks,

    Toby

I think the main advantages of the newer Feeview boxes are:

    Faster channel changing
(Some) able to access 7 day EPG (if it ever arrives)
    Faster Teletext/interactive access

Picture & sound quality might be slightly better, but IMHO not worth paying out for a new box for.

I still use an old Philips OnD box via a TiVo to a plasma with sound via a Denon 3802 and find the box is still good enough.

I believe all of the 'old Ondigital' boxes are no longer software supported, so any new Freeview features won't work?

Just got the new Pioneer job (to feed my DVD recorder while I watch $ky), and its much improved over an old Nokia box I had some years ago..:smashin:
