I'm in the process of having a new cinema room built and i am considering selling my 2 pairs of white M&K K-4 tripoles for the new Monitor Audio Bronze FX or maybe pushing to the Silver FX.

I have Monitor Audio Golds at the front and will be having Monitor Audio ceiling speakers for Atmos.

I can't really afford the Gold FX speakers to match.

Is it worth the 'upgrade' ?

    Thanks

Sorry for the late reply matey, what did you decide on in the end? Did you buy the MA Bronze FX? I am considering a pair of the Bronze FX too.

It says you have the MA Silver range at the bottom of your post hence I would suggest getting the Silver FX to match and not the bronze.

Well spotted PSM1, but my Silver 5i speakers are really old, (approx 15 years) and I believe the MA Bronze range is probably on par now with my old 'silvers'. Does that make sense? !

I would always want the speakers to be the same make and model all around. Speaker technology has not moved much over the last 15 years so the silver may still be the best option.

My current speakers are all timbre matched with exactly the same size bass/mid and tweeters. However back when I bought these speakers in 1999 MA did not make a matching surround speaker. All you had was floorstanders, bookshelf and centre (and maybe a sub but I can't remember)

As technology moves forward and advances, it would surely be logical to say that the MA Silver range that one could buy today, would out perform the MA Silver range from 15 years ago?

I will ask my local dealer if he will bring some surround speakers to my house to demo them in situ.

The marketing would have you believe huge steps in improvement in each new edition but I doubt it. If it was the case then we would all need to spend less on equipment for similar quality which is just not the case. I think we have all been clouded by the computer phenomenon and believe we can now get better for less or the same money on all items.

I went for latest Bronze FX at the sides and Soundframe 2 speakers at the rear.I would not have been able to fit Bronze FX at the rears. Both pairs are excellent.I am more than happy with the surround field they emit and the quality.I can recommend them.
