I have seen a Serbian film and 120 days of Sodium.
Can you recommend any more?

120 days of Sodium.
I didn't even pick up on thatseeing Human Centipede (made in 2009) and A Serbian Film (2010), described as "old movies" is the most disturbing thing in this thread
The interesting thing about texas chainsaw is the violence is pretty much all off screen.I think there's a fine line sometimes between what we describe as scary and disturbing. The horror genre can sometimes be hard to define, especially nowadays with torture porn and the like.
A Serbian Film for me is just nasty. I wouldn't class it in the same league as Texas Chainsaw or Irreversible.
The original Martyrs was a shocker, the US remake a different kind of shocker.
Seconds is a good slow burner and like someone from the USA on IMDB described it something like, came out of the cinema on a hot summers day but I was chilled to the bone. The interesting thing about texas chainsaw is the violence is pretty much all off screen.
People apparently watched it and said it was gory and violent, because the film works so well on being horrible and unsettling. Even the music is awful and unsettling.
I do love a good "a slow building of dread" horror. The wicker man, Rosemary's baby, the witch.
The ending of the wicker man is one that most seem to know without seeing the film- it's even on the cover of the DVD. Imagine seeing that ending knowing nothing about it before hand. It must have been utterly shocking.
I dont know seconds. Will have to check it out.Seconds is a good slow burner and like someone from the USA on IMDB described it something like, came out of the cinema on a hot summers day but I was chilled to the bone.
For me the scariest has to go back to Alien never been beat by anything since for edge of the seat stuff all the way though.
Its a very slow burner in the middle.I dont know seconds. Will have to check it out.
The horror Channel does throw up the odd gem from time to time.
I first saw it on C4 back in the 90s, late at night. I still remember the huge release of tension after the final scene, only then realising that my hands had been gripping the arms of the couch up until that point. The interesting thing about texas chainsaw is the violence is pretty much all off screen.

The only bad thing about Switchblade romance, is i dont think it really makes sense once you realise who the killer is. Its been years since ive seen it, but i remember at the time thinking thatI first saw it on C4 back in the 90s, late at night. Actually that reminds me of another one that's good for tension: Haute Tension / Switchblade Romance. That gave me TCSM vibes too.
Hereditary was brilliant up until a point and then it got daft. Irreversible was nasty, but brilliantly disturbingScary I would Say Ju-On, Shutter, Ring all the Asian versions not US remakes Mama is another one.
Disturbing - Irreversible, Hereditary, Midsomar, Hostel, Human centipede.
