Found this subject really quite hard, I don't have a tripod so struggled a bit with camera shake etc, also my first time with this sort of effect

I like this one, great lighting. My only comment - and you did say RIA! - is that the composition is perhaps a bit too tight on the bloke. It might have been nice to see a bit of black space to the left of his eye so we can see him looking into the space.
