I called John Lewis in Welwyn to see if they would price match HiSpek in St. Albans and, to my surprise, they quoted me the HiSpek price up front (£1999). That's including VAT, 5 year warranty, delivery to my home and a soapy t*t w**k (Ok, that last bit isn't true ).

I've placed my order  and it's coming on Thursday, apparently, but they don't know what the firmware version is going to be. They reckon I'll be able to exchange it if it's a crippled 1.3 rather than a fully priapic 2.1.

A question tho' - what would be a good HTPC graphics card to demo the WMHD and DivX HD movies through the screen?

I'll let you know how stoopidly happy I am when it arriives on Thursday (as long as none of those forum reported Philips gripes show up).

Well it arrived last Thursday, it's great... but it's a 1.3! :thumbsdow

John Lewis offered to replace it but, as I pointed out to them, there's not a lot of point if it's going to be another 1.3. There contacting Philips to find out what to do.

But hey, what a great TV! :smashin:
