    Hi all,

After the trauma of finally choosing my Plasma, I'm now faced with finding a hifi cabinet to store my AV gear. This is proving to be just as much a challenge! I've browsed the usual places (John Lewis's, Next, M&S) as well as some of the places linked to from this page, to no avail.

All I'm after is a cabinet to store amp, xbox, TiVo, DVD player with enough room for an extra piece of equipment should it require. It needs to be ventilated I suppose and I won't be putting a TV on the top of it.

So far, this is the closest, but it doesn't seem to offer decent ventilation and I don't think it's wide enough (I'd like to be able to store stuff side by side if possible. Anyone know of anything similar available? Budget is £300 - £400.

    Thanks,
    Dave.

Just remove the back of the unit and buy metal braces - available from IKea or any good DIY store.

I bought a Habitat sideboard which I am going to remove the back of and install metal braces on just like I did with a Bo Concept display cabinet to house my TiVos and AV gear.

Habitat memphis was 329 and the Bo Concept one was 729 pounds.

The memphis should hold up to 15 seperates when modified, and the Bo Concept holds 16 seperates.

    Thanks chaps,

The Arca 200 looks pretty much perfect, definitely a no compromise product in terms of pandering to the requirements of the AV kit stored inside :) The 300 series looks interesting, I wonder if it would be wise to put a subwoofer inside there  (not a serious suggestion) as I don't have any speakers that need housing in there except for a sub. The kit would probably rattle all over the place :rotfl:

Slightly over my budget, but it looks like it might be worth the extra outlay.

    Thanks for your help,
    Dave.

    Hey, John,

Any chance of a picture of your 100 series? All the pictures that I can find are very sanitised marketing pictures from Arca. I'd like to see them as close to real as I can, as I'll be buying mail order.

    Cheers,
    Dave.

I am also looking for some Wooden AV furniture, I want to put a LCD screen on top and house a Kef 5005 Center speaker, Large AMP, Humax, DVD player & Video player) but the Arca doesn't hit the spot for me and my max budget is £350.

Does anyone else have any other ideas?

    Thanks

http://www.jali.co.uk/ will be within your budget.

Otherwise it's Ikea, Argos, and the cheaper ex-display or sale stuff from John Lewis, Habitat etc...

If you have a friendly cheap local cabinet maker try them for a quote.
