We're having our new plasma installed next week and it's going on the chimney breast.Although we have storage heaters the wife likes to use the electric fire now and again which protrudes from the fireplace.I told her that when the telly was on the wall i'd rather she didn't use it as the heat may affect the plasma above it.Her reply?,"Why don't we get a smaller electric fire,push it right back into the fireplace and then all the heat will go up the chimney".
Dontcha just love women?

Buy her one of those "real fire" DVDs & she can use that to keep warm instead.

Why don't you research a method of deflecting the heat away from the plasma screen and allow your Mrs to have her fire on whenever she wishes. OK, she might have not put her brain in gear when she said what she said, but at the same time, she likes to have a fire as a focal point and you are taking it away from her by saying she can't use it again. Men, Pah. So, here is a useful link to help you find out if you need to tell her to keep the fire off at all. Actually,some of those recessed screens look damn fine,I shall investigate further.
