We're having our new plasma installed next week and it's going on the chimney breast.Although we have storage heaters the wife likes to use the electric fire now and again which protrudes from the fireplace.I told her that when the telly was on the wall i'd rather she didn't use it as the heat may affect the plasma above it.Her reply?,"Why don't we get a smaller electric fire, push it right back into the fireplace and then all the heat will go up the chimney".
Dontcha just love women?:suicide:

Why don't you research a method of deflecting the heat away from the plasma screen and allow your Mrs to have her fire on whenever she wishes. OK, she might have not put her brain in gear when she said what she said, but at the same time, she likes to have a fire as a focal point and you are taking it away from her by saying she can't use it again. Men, Pah. So, here is a useful link to help you find out if you need to tell her to keep the fire off at all. Check out the members home cinema gallery section to see if others have done a plasma install on a chimney breast without loosing the function of the fire beneath it. That said, I am not a fan of electric fires anyway, so maybe you could show her the pictures of some of the home cinema's and inspire her to loose the fire and go for an amazing look like this Click here
