With Plasma EDTV does getting the HDTV package really make your picture better then

    All Digital Direct TV? I don't really see why it would since the tv is an EDTV and not HDTV to begin with. The most it can do is 480P

    This has been covered before, if you do a search of the forum.

    But basically, although our standard broadcasts are a nominal higher resolution than EDTV screens, it is interlaced, and compressed (in many cases quite heavily). So a regular (digital) broadcast falls short the potential quality of EDTV.

    Even though HDTV is compressed as well, and would have to be scaled down to fit an EDTV, the result should be closer to what EDTV is capable of.
