Nice concept and great reflections. DOF is too shallow for me though, and for me would have looked better if the cocktail sticks were in focus. Also for this type of shot it needs to be perfectly symmetrical for me. Just personal preference though. Good effort :smashin:

It works for me but a greater depth of field would be better.

DOF is just right for me and the defocussed toothpicks help focus the attention on the reflections - I like the idea and the composition almost works for me but is too tight at the top :)

I like it. Good concept, although it is cropped a bit tight, especially at the top.
Kudos for doing something that isn't to do with water lol I was getting bored of all sky/water shots!

Thanks for the C&C peeps. Jim has picked up the two main things I was aiming for, focus on the reflection and not the set itself, and a tight crop to stop it getting 'boring' with pattern repetition all the way through. Some of the photos I shot had no toothpicks at all, but in the end I chose a frame with them in to make it just a little more obvious what the setup was. A two-second exposure with very limited light was another aspect of the shot I was playing with at the time. Anyway, I had fun for a little while, playing with camera settings I rarely use, and that´s why I like to join in the comp when I can. This is one of my entries I wish I had posted at a smaller size, it looks better, imho, at the default size on my flickr photostream front page, for example.
This won´t float everyone's boat but, hey, it´s just for fun, right? Thanks again! Good luck with your entries, and keep them coming!

PS A note to AVF, I really dislike the default ad placement in the threads!

I really like this. Very nice patterns and 'out of the box' thinking on the theme. Nice one.
